Thurman Taylor Justus
Thurman Taylor Justus, 87, of Crab Orchard, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 31, 2013.
Born December 13, 1925, at Blackey, VA, he was the son of the late Paris and Virgie Stacy Justus. Mr. Justus was a veteran of both the Army and Navy before becoming an insurance salesman. He attended Hilltop Baptist Church in Midway. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Betty Goode Justus; son, Stephen Justus; granddaughter, Amy Lindsey; and a brother, Edd Justus.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Dawn Justus Lindsey of Louisa, VA, Derek Justus and wife Londa of Crab Orchard, Gregory Justus and wife Verilyn of Crab Orchard, Pamela Justus of Shady Spring, Stephanie Justus Bowling and husband James P. of Jumping Branch, Cheryl Justus Webb and husband Rocky of Eccles and David Matthew Justus of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Curtis Justus of Hepzibah, GA, Geneva Workman, Josephine Workman, Alkie Zandecki, Mary Jane Bradshaw all of Washington state, and Beatrice Blankenship of Columbus, OH.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Pat Haynes officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service on Tuesday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — Larry Rodney Martin, 72, of Green Cove Springs, died Monday, May 27, 2013.
Mr. Martin was a native of Terry, W.Va., and a resident of Green Cove Springs for the past 10 years having moved here from Virginia Beach. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in 1958 and received his degree in Accounting from Morris Harvey College in 1967. Mr. Martin served his country as a veteran of the USMC and retired from the Navy Auditor Services after 30 years. Following his move to Florida, he was employed by Northrop Grumman and retired as an Internal Auditor Accountant after four years of service. While living in West Virginia, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and after his retirement, he has enjoyed golfing and camping. He was a member of the General Roy Geiger Marine Corps League Detachment #1047 Clay County, Fla., for the past five years.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carol Martin, son, Rodney (Joyce) Martin, daughter Melinda (Floyd) Kirk, sister, Ramona Malcolm, four grandchildren, Bryce and Emma Martin, Kaitlyn and Brittany Kirk, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Beulah Martin, two brothers, John and Clinton Martin, four sisters, Marie Upton, Thelma Tanner, Freda Gurack, and Mae Fuller.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, June 3rd, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary. Committal services will be Tuesday, June 4th, at 11 a.m. at the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum with full military honors. Those wishing to attend the committal services are asked to meet at the mortuary by 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
