Charlene Flora Vanhoy Billings

SPANISHBURG — “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.”  1st Cor.13-4

Charlene Flora Vanhoy Billings, 80, of Spanishburg, went to meet her Lord and Savior Thursday evening, May 21, 2013, at her home following a long illness.

She was born August 30, 1932, in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Pendry Vanhoy.

Her two greatest loves, were the church and her offspring and was followed by her love for crocheting and canning. Her greatest recreation was work. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith and her faith endures forever.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert A. Billings; two brothers, Eugene and Earl Vanhoy, one sister, Christene Kowalski, along with a beloved daughter-in-law Nita Billings.

Those left to cherish her memory, are her children, Ronnie and Sylvia Billings of Kegley; Douglas and Carolyn Billings of Bremen, Ky.; Byron Ross and Marie Billings of Kegley; Stephen Billings of Princeton; Pamela Hull of Spanishburg; Danny and Brenda Dent of Bastian Va.; Otis and Belinda Akers of Spanishburg; Robert D. and Linda Billings of Princeton; 48 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Elder Keith Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Michael and Matthew Dent, Jack Hull, Tyler Collins, Leroy Adkins, Shane Janutolo and Johnny and Timothy Billings.

The Billings family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
