MEADOW BRIDGE — Geneva Fox, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, lost her fight with Alzheimer’s Disease on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at her home with all of her family by her side, following a long illness.
Born March 23, 1935, at Red Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Oather and Ida Deloris Smith Adkins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Chandler Geneva.
Geneva was a member of Red Springs Community Church of Red Springs, where she taught Sunday School for a long time. Even though she couldn’t drive, she never missed a Sunday School service. Her favorite Bible verse that she taught her family and wanted them to remember was Philippians 4:13 which reads, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” She loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a homemaker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Alva K. Fox of Backus Mtn. Road; two daughters, Donna Marcum (Porky) of Beckley, and Dolly Smith (Joey) of Danese; two sons, Dean (Lena) Fox of Backus Mtn., and Dale Fox and special friend Chrissy of Danese; one sister, Virginia “Dingie” McMillen of Beckley; eight grandchildren: Samantha Fox, Tabitha Fox, Sarena Fox, Travis Fox, Tosha Spence, Haylee Smith, Taylor Smith and Ryan Fox; and two great-grandchildren: Bryce and Braxton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Shirley Fox and Brother Ray Hicks officiating.
Friends may visit with family Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Her final resting place will be at Goddard Cemetery, beside her granddaughter Chandler, where she would have wanted to be.
Pallbearers will be Dean, Dale, Porky, Joey, Travis, and Ryan.
