Sidney W. Allen
MASSILLON, Ohio — Sidney W. Allen, age 62, of Massillon, a native of Oak Hill, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013.
He was born in Oak Hill, W.Va., on April 23, 1950, to Burkie and Billie Allen.
He was a kind free spirit that had tremendous love for his family and friends. Sidney also enjoyed music, especially playing the guitar. He was recently enrolled at Stark State University to become a massage therapist, and was employed as a car salesman in the area.
He was preceded in death by his father, Burkie Allen.
Sidney is survived by his children, Ryan and Nathan Allen; granddaughter, Bella Allen; mother, Billie (Goodman) Allen; brothers, Randy and John Allen, of West Virginia; nephews, John Jr. and Kevin Allen; his dear cousin, Jack Stone, and his companion, Pamela J. Wells.
Cremation has taken place and a gathering of friends will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 2 p.m., at 1305 Springhill NE, Massillon, OH 44646.

Harry Beuran Atkinson
Harry Beuran Atkinson, 88, of Beckley, was lovingly welcomed into the arms of God on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, following a short illness.
Born August 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Harry Atkinson Sr. and Lillian Pearl Atkinson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Atkinson McClure; grandsons, Mark Louis Atkinson and William Guy Atkinson II; also preceding him in death are his sisters, Mary Barney, Celia Barker, and brothers, Rev. John Atkinson and Harold Eugene Atkinson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jane Ann Sparks Atkinson; sons, Barney Atkinson and his wife, Mary, Bill Atkinson and his wife, Sharon; and a daughter, Karen Eller and her husband, Ross; son-in-law, David McClure. Additionally, he is survived by grandchildren Kelli Atkinson Morrison and her husband, Todd, Amanda McClure Owens and her husband, Tommy, Kristin Atkinson Spinks and her husband, Jamie, Carrie McClure Carney and her fiancé, Victor Parker, Samuel Atkinson and his wife, Emily; great-grandchildren, Jacob Morrison, Savannah Lynn, Ethan Lynn, Elijah Morrison, Asa Morrison, Kaleb Spinks, and Grayson Spinks. He is also survived by sisters, Martha Muntz, Charity Fondale, Hope Atkinson, and a host of special nieces and nephews.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Independence during World War II. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Beckley College. He was the owner of Atkinson’s Super Market in Beckley and Atkinson’s Super Market in Coal City before becoming a real estate broker and owner of Van Buren Gallery of Homes. He was an astute businessman and entrepreneur. He formerly served as a past president of the Beckley Board of Realtors and as a member of the board of Appalachian Bible College. He served as past chairman of the Deacon Board for Regular Baptist Church and was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church, the Outreach Sunday School Class and First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Although he lived a successful life, his passion was to live his life to honor God. He was considered by those that knew him best as one of the heroes of faith. Described as a loving and faithful husband, father, and grandfather, he touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a wise, gentle and compassionate man who wanted everyone to know abundant life in Christ.
Services to honor and celebrate his life will be conducted at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Dr. Charles Bright, Dr. James Boyd and Barney Atkinson officiating.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Paul Atkinson, Hal Atkinson, David Fondale, Wes Fondale, Todd Morrison and Jamie Spinks.
The family requests any donations of sympathy be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia or Memorial Baptist Church.
