Arnold Lewis Brown
OCEANA — Arnold Lewis Brown, 83, departed this life Sunday, February 26, 2012, at his home.
Born July 18, 1928, he was the son of the late Pal and Matilda Brown of Glen Fork.
Arnold served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He worked at Cook Ford Sales in Oceana as head mechanic and wrecker driver for 24 years. Arnold was among the first Registered Ford Technicians for Ford Motor Company in the country. He loved to work on cars and mechanics from all around would call and ask for his advice when troubleshooting a vehicle. Arnold also helped his wife Doris deliver The Register-Herald for 22 years.
Arnold played a different role in all our lives, a husband, a father, and grandfather, great grandfather and friend. No matter what role we have for him he was someone who we looked up to, loved and respected. He was always there for his family no matter how much pain he was enduring. He brought us joy when we had pain, the strength, love and devotion of one held all of us together. He isn’t physically here but we still feel him near in every step we take and every move we make, what he has given to us, no one can ever replace.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Sigmon and her husband P.T., Velma Fleming and her husband Lynn Fleming; and a brother Arthur Brown.
He is survived by his soul mate of 59 years, Doris Clark Brown of Oceana; a son, David Brown and wife Georgia Brown of Justice; a daughter, Patricia Fatony and husband Rick of Oceana; Grandchildren include, Jessi Stepp and husband Luke of Oceana, Nicholas Brown and wife Patricia of Gilbert, Dana Fatony and companion Sabrina Abbott of Kopperston; Great grandchildren include, MaKenzie, Cadence (C.J.), and Taylor Stepp, Trevor and Kerry Fatony; Arnold was looking forward to the birth of another great grandchild in September that is going to be named Dominick Lewis Brown; special nephew, Sheldon Fleming of Posey Saxton Road and a very special sister-n-law Gladys Brown; and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of Arnold’s life will be noon Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jackie Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, with full military honors by Wyoming County Honor Guards.
