Betty F. Blankenship

CYCLONE — Betty F. Blankenship, 66, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in Evans Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Rollins Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Wednesday.

Violet Mae Honaker

MASSILLON, Ohio — Violet Mae Honaker, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2014.

She was born on June 5, 1941, to the late Cecil and Ruby (Phillips) Angell in Hinton, West Virginia.

She married Ronald E. Honaker on February 2, 1959, and they shared 46 years together until his passing in 2005.

Violet was a longtime member of Massillon Baptist Temple serving as a Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending quality time with her family. A beautiful lady whose kind heart touched so many lives; an artist who left her mark in so many ways. She was a strong woman, yet quick to comfort those in need. Her sweet smile and compassionate spirit will be missed beyond words. She was always very active, but enjoyed relaxing with a nice cool breeze. Above all else she was a faithful devoted follower of the Lord and has gone home to be with him and her husband.

Violet is survived by her children Ronald (Gay) Honaker, Saundra (Ken) Reed, and Dale (Stephanie) Honaker; her grandchildren Brittany, Samantha, Ashton, Morgan and Alyssa; 4 great-grandchildren; her sisters Fran Angell, Judy Mann and Glenna Shull; her brother Bobby Angell; A host of nieces, nephews and friends; and her beloved dogs Tootsie and Pebbles. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother Ronnie Phillips.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastor Cecil Thayer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, and 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

Lula Perry Judy

RAINELLE — Lula Perry Judy, 99, of Rainelle, passed away on February 28, 2014, at the Brier Nursing Home in Ronceverte, WV, following a long illness.

She was born on September 20, 1914, in Anthony, WV. She was the daughter of the late John and Polly Neathawk Perry.

Preceding her in death was her husband Palmer H Judy in 1981.

Lula was a homemaker and she was a member of the Sewell Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors are 2 daughters: Juanita (Dale) Bever of Summersville, WV, Jena (Randy) Ash of Daleville, VA, 2 sons: Harold (Barbara) of Nettie, WV, Clifford (Lillian) of Rainelle, WV, 1 brother L.D. Perry of Princeton, WV. She had 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Sewell Valley Baptist Church in Rainelle with the Pastor Fred Fryar officiating. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum in Clintonville.

John L. Knotts Sr. died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Enon Baptist Church in Frankford. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg.



Josephine Lilly

MAPLE FORK ROAD — Josephine Lilly, 78, of Maple Fork Road went home to be with her Lord, on Friday, February 28, 2014, in Ruby Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Born May 5, 1935, in her parents’ home at Jumping Branch, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Hazel Lilly.

Josephine was a member of the Maple Fork Baptist Church, owned and operated Lilly’s Upholstery for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harry E. Lilly, great-grandson Carter Michael Pack, a sister Melba Prince, and 3 brothers James Lilly, Gene Lilly, and David Lilly, and a daughter-in-Law Susie Lilly.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Burke Worrell and her husband Ray of Sand Branch, Joyce Whitt and her Husband Willie of Mt. Tabor, Kathy Pack of Maple Fork, Harry E. Lilly Jr. and his wife Mary of Mt. Airy, NC, and Jo Ann Plumley and her husband Junior of Maple Fork; 12 grandchildren Ray, Amanda, Becky, Paula, Willie, Eric, Daniel, Lydon, Jeremy, Tiffany, Jessica, and CJ; 19 great-grandchildren Alden, Madisyn, Caleb, Zack, Abby, Hailey, Isaiah, Cameron, Riley, Peyton, Easton, Ethan, Gunner, Warren, Gavin, Greyson, Gracie, Mason, and waiting on a new addition Baby Stahl; 2 brothers Robert Earl Lilly of Beckley, and Charles Lilly and his wife Jenny of Pebbles, Ohio. 2 sisters Brenda Rood and her husband Ron of Shady Spring and Hazel Stanley and her husband Tim of Fairdale, and her brother-in-law Robert E. Lilly and his wife Vickie of Orlando, FL, and sister-in-law Betty Lilly of Mt. Hope.

Services celebrating Josephine’s life will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 1 p.m. at her church, Maple Fork Baptist, with her Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest next to her husband in Blue Ridge  Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Ray Worrell, Willie Whitt, Eric Pack, Daniel Pack, Lydon Lilly, Jeremy Lilly, and C.J. Plumley. Flower Girls will be Becky Kiblinger, Paula Stahl, Amanda Chornsbay, Tiffany Maynor, and Jessica Lilly.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the church.

Eugene ‘Gene’ Harold Martin

RAINELLE — Eugene “Gene” Harold Martin, of Rainelle, formerly of Meadow Bridge, WV, 80, passed away on February 28, 2014, at his home, following a long illness.

He was born on September 30, 1933, in Chrichton, WV. He was the son of the late Stafford and Irene Ratliff Martin.

Eugene was a 20-year retired TSGT of the U.S. Air Force and he was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his parents, Eugene is preceded in death by his wife Hazel Avancini Martin in 2006.

Survivors are 4 daughters: Teresa Wright of Oakland, Maryland, Tammy Demchuk of Pittsburgh, PA, Lisa Nisbet of Rock, WV, Melissa Fields of Sandy Hook, KY, one son: Dennis Martin of Richmond, KY. Eugene is also survived by one brother, Clifford Martin of Springdale, WV. He had 11 grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel in Rainelle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville.

Deanna Joy Saxton

OAK HILL — Deanna Joy Saxton, 52, of Oak Hill, WV, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at her home.

Born January 3, 1962, at Oak Hill, WV, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Saxton and Allison Ruth Rinehart.

Deanna was a retired Deputy for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Survivors include two loving sisters, Donna Mills of Oak Hill and Sandra Sutton of Thurmont, MD; nieces and nephews, James Sutton and Morgan Sutton both of Maryland, Dawn Sutton of Georgia, Jesse Mills of New Mexico, and Stetson Owings and Wyatt Mills both of West Virginia; great-nieces, Makayla Rose Martin and Abbigail Renae Martin both of Maryland. She also leaves behind a host of other family and friends that she held dear.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Chaplain Ron George, Jr., officiating and with full Police Honors. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wilsie (Hicks) Sizemore

GAULEY BRIDGE — Wilsie (Hicks) Sizemore, 81, of Gauley Bridge passed away peacefully at CAMC-General Division in Charleston, with all of her family by her side.

She was a Christian and faithfully attended the Gauley Bridge United Methodist Church.

Born December 7, 1932, in Calhoun County, she is the daughter of the late Truman and Ellena (Metz) Hicks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Dorma Welch, Wanda Roller, Veraleen Massey and Peggy Kozak; and her son-in-law, Gary Dean Thomas.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Roscoe Sizemore of Gauley Bridge; children, Terry Sizemore (Frances) of Fayetteville, Sandy Thomas (Gary) of Gauley Bridge, and Teddy Sizemore (Mary) of Monroe, NC; grandchildren, Stephanie Harvey (Brian) of Gauley Bridge, Jason Thomas (Stacy) of Charlton Heights, Josh Sizemore (Katy) of Bluewell, and Shawn and Laura Sizemore of Monroe, NC; great-granddaughter, Lauren Harvey of Gauley Bridge; sisters, Naomi McCallister (Don) of Chelyan and Joyce Plasko (Terry) of Ohio; special friends, Gladys Kauff, Velva Woods and Thelma Neal; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Services will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Gauley Bridge United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mark Skaggs officiating; burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Gardens in London.

Arby Archie Smith

OAK HILL — Arby Archie Smith, 68, of Oak Hill, WV, died on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at his home.

Born August 1, 1945, at Harvey, WV, he was the son of the late Rev. Arb Smith and Elizabeth Pearl Darby Smith.

He was a disabled laborer for Cabot Gas Company.

His wife, Barbara Marie (Smith) Smith, two brothers, a sister and a grandson preceded him in death.

Survivors include three sons, Arby Smith Jr. and wife, Angie Marie Turney, and Jonathan Smith and wife, Charlotte, all of Oak Hill, and Sam Burns of Gauley Bridge, and a sister, Helen Smith of Oak Hill.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jasmine Hope Turney, Vanessa Dawn Hamrick, Barbara Frances Smith, Eric Hodge, Jr., Joseph Smith, Jessie Ray Smith, James T. Smith and Sharon T. Smith.

Mr. Smith was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
