Charles W. Burns

Charles W. Burns, 68, of Beckley, formerly of Stickney, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.

Born January 11, 1946, at Beckwith; he was a son of Evelyn Beasley Burns and the late Charles Burns.

Charles was a member of the UMWA, loved watching sports, and was an avid WVU fan. Charles graduated from Marshfork High School in 1966 and Beckley College; Charles served his country proudly in the U.S. Army serving 1 year in Vietnam.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Burns and a sister, Martha Comer.

In addition to his mother those left to cherish his memory include his companion of 34 years, Virginia Dickens; 7 sisters, Betty and Jim Martin, Mildred and Benny Martin, Dorothy and Bobby Haynes, Mabel and Joel Chernin, Rebecca and Irvin Griffitts, Barbara and John Gobble, Cindy and John Jarrell; two brothers, Ed and Dianna Burns, and Raymond Burns; his beloved dog, Angel; several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Services to celebrate Charles’ life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Roger Comer officiating. Following the services Charles will be laid to rest at the Pine View Cemetery, Whitesville.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family from noon until time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

Lawrence Thomas Evans

CRANY — Lawrence Thomas Evans, 67, of Crany, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.

Funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Toneda Missionary Baptist Church, Crany, with Pastor Jim Hamrick and Rev. Glenn Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014, the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home.
