James A. ‘Dick’ Taylor
OAK HILL — James A. "Dick" Taylor, 89, of Oak Hill, died on Monday, November 4, 2013, at CAMC - General Division in Charleston, W.Va.
Born February 26, 1924, at Prudence, W.Va., he was the son of the late Carl and Elizabeth Starks Taylor.
Dick was a retired service man for WV American Water Company with 33 years service.
He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 149 in Fayetteville.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Fesco Taylor; son, Robert Taylor and wife, Tammie of Fayetteville; daughter, Karen Cogar and husband, Lee of Oak Hill and sister, Maxine Vandall of Beckley.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kristina Taylor, Morgan Roark and husband, Jordan and Jennifer Toney and husband, Rodney and five great grandchildren, Payton Roark, Amber Toney, Tristan Toney, Kaleb Toney and Jeremiah Toney.
Funeral services will be on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Paul Basham officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post No. 3110.
Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Catherine Yvonne Wallace
ASHLAND, Ky. — Catherine Yvonne Wallace, 54, of Ashland, Ky., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 3, 2013.
She was born in Hempstead, N.Y. on January 31, 1959, to the late James A. Walker and Rosaline Jones Canada of Oak Hill, W.Va.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her step father, Thomas Jefferson Canada Sr., and a brother Bryant Hicklin.
Catherine was a 6th grade teacher at Boyd County Middle School and had received her master’s degree from Morehead State University. She was a faithful member of Christ Temple Church, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Usher Board, a minister, and had a jail ministry. She also taught at the Ramey Home during spring, summer and fall breaks.
She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Emory Wallace Jr. of Ashland, Ky., her mother, Rosaline Jones Canada of Oak Hill; a son Emory Wallace III (Stacy) of Ashland, Ky., a daughter Megan Elizabeth Wallace of Ashland, Ky., brothers William Walker (Gina), Kevin Walker (Carla) and Lewis Walker (Pam) all of Columbus, Ohio, sisters Patricia Walker and Rosetta Walker of Oak Hill and Felicia Walker of Columbus, Ohio and grandchildren Brooke, Camryn, Makenna, Ethan and Aidan along with four step brothers and two step sisters.
Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Christ Temple Church with Minister J.D. Crockrel officiating, with burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.

MOUNT HOPE — Mr. Scott Washington, 35, of Mt. Hope, died November 4, 2013.
