LEWISBURG — Beverly Lynn McLaughlin, 65, of Lewisburg, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Edgewood Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ben Gurley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg.

Zivia C. Powers
NEWARK, Del. — Zivia Carolyn Powers, 72, of Newark, died on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital, Newark.
Zivia was born in Rock, W.Va., the 8th child of 13 to Effie Faye Basham Johnson and Earl Johnson.
She went to Raleigh Elementary School and Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley. After graduating from high school, Zivia went to Baltimore where she married James Powers Jr. and shortly after had a daughter, Lelia Faye. In 1963 they moved to Delaware where James Thomas III was born.
Zivia worked several jobs including Stuart Pharmaceuticals, Woolco & Gaylords, before working at Chrysler Corporation, where she later retired.
Zivia is survived by her children, Lelia Faye and son-in-law Eric Williams of Middletown, Del., and James Thomas Powers III of Middletown, Del.; brother, Dewy Johnson; sister, Drema Pack. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Corbin and Cirten Williams and Michael Powers, and several nieces and nephews.
Zivias’ favorite things in life were cornbread, watermelon, pinto beans, fried potatoes, NFL Football (GO EAGLES!) and Harlequin Romance novels.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 8th, at 2 p.m. at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE. 19702, where friends my visit with the family from noon to 2 p.m. Zivia will be buried on Monday, November 11th, in Blue Ridge Cemetery, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
