Ollie Mae Shrewsbury Bishop

PRINCETON — Ollie Mae Shrewsbury Bishop, 88, of 210 Toni Lane, Princeton, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Princeton Health Care Center.

Born January 10, 1925, in Bud, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and Ocie Jane Mills Shrewsbury.

Ollie dearly loved her family and was a devoted homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church in Glenwood. She had been a resident of Mercer County since November 1985 moving here from Wyoming County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70  years, Roy Lee Bishop on March 11, 2013; one grandson, Kevin James Bishop; two sisters, Gracie McKinney and Opal Shrewsbury and one brother, Clyde Shrewsbury.

She is survived by nine children, Merle Mason Bishop and wife Shirley of Summersville, W.Va., Earnest Marvin Bishop and wife Carol of Lerona, Melvin Halroy Bishop and wife Sherlene of Princeton, Morris Roland Bishop and wife Dianna of East Bend, N.C., Willis Eugene Bishop and wife Mary of Bluefield, James Ivan Bishop and wife Jewel of Princeton, Kay Broyles and husband James of Princeton, Roy Lee Bishop Jr. and wife Linda of Charlotte, N.C. and David Ray Bishop of Lerona; 27 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1  p.m. Friday, November 8, 2013, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Greg Kinzer and Pastor Marvin Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service hour Friday.

Shelva Louise Marie Blanks

OAK HILL — Mrs. Shelva Louise Marie Blanks, 85, of Oak Hill, died Sunday, November 3, 2013.

Born May 18, 1928, in Glen Jean, she was the daughter of the late Jack Leftwich and Valara M. Minnis Wilson.

She was a housewife, mother, and member of First Baptist Church Harlem Heights and also a graduate of Dubois High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George L. S. Blanks; daughter, Phyllis M. Blanks; stepson, George Blanks Jr. and brother, George D. Rose.

Left to cherish precious memories are her children: George A. Blanks of Middleport, Ohio, Rev. Stanley F. Blanks of Bradley, Phillip M. Blanks of High Point, N.C., Kenneth L. Blanks of Pueblo, Colo., Shelva M. Gwinn of High Point, N.C. and Joyce A. Blanks of Harlem Heights; brothers, Daniel Wilson of Gulfport, Miss. and Raymond J. Wilson of Minden; sister, Joanne Wilson of Minden; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Harlem Heights, Broadway Avenue, Harlem Heights, with Rev. Stanley F. Blanks officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
