Carolyn Sue Bowyer Clark

RAINELLE — Carolyn Sue Bowyer Clark, 75, of Rainelle, formerly of Oak Hill, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Summers County Hospital in Hinton.

Born May 25, 1938, at Oak Hill, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas Elmer Bowyer and Nancy Elick Duncan Bowyer Geffs.

She was a homemaker. Carolyn was a graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill.

Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Johnson and wife, Dreama, of Ronceverte and Lee Johnson of Rainelle, and one grandchild, Gregory Johnson of Ronceverte.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with the Rev. Ralph Shupe officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, on Saturday, July 20, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Gladys Patricia Preston-Glenn

ATLANTA, Ga. — Gladys Patricia Preston-Glenn, 63, of Atlanta, Ga., a native of Slab Fork, died Monday, July 8, 2013.

Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Refuge Baptist Church, 400 N. 20th Ave., Columbus, Ohio. The family will also receive friends at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Refuge Baptist Church until start of service at 10 a.m. Interment is at Eastlawn Cemetery.

Jimmie John ‘Johnny’ Hood

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Jimmie John (Johnny) Hood, 69, went home to be with Jesus and his family Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his home in Rock Hill, SC.

Born in Kopperston, Johnny was the son of the late Earnie and Pauline Jarrett Hood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Betty Eagen; three brothers, Raymond, Paul and Jerry Hood.

Johnny graduated from Oceana High School in 1962 in Oceana. He is employed with Control Southeast in Charlotte, NC, where he has worked for the past 24 years. He was a former employee of Sophia Electric in Beckley, WV. He attended the Fort Mill Church of God.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 45 years, Freda Hood; two children Brian Hood and Denise Whisenant and her husband Ron; two grandchildren, Dylan and Mackenzie Holland, all of Rock Hill, SC.

Johnny is also survived by a sister, Frances (Muzzy) Morgan and Eudell of Dover, Tenn., five brothers, Larry and Brenda of Charlotte, N.C., Roger and Debbie of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Terry and Anita of Oceana, Jeff and Priscilla of Kopperston, Russell (Rusty) and April of Charlotte, N.C., and a host of family and friends.

A Celebration of Johnny’s life will be held at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, S.C. The Family will receive friends Sunday, July 21, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Funeral services will follow. Johnny’s nephew, Dell Morgan of Dover, Tenn., will conduct the funeral. Eulogy will be given by Johnny’s boss and longtime friend Butch Hill.

A memorial will be held at a later date at the Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny, W.Va., where Johnny’s ashes will be laid.
