Margaret Lucille Ballis

DEERFIELD, Ohio — Margaret Lucille Ballis, 81, of Deerfield, Ohio, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.

Arrangements are pending completion at Pivont Funeral Home, Hinton.



Janice Russell Bell

SPANISHBURG — Janice Louise Stovall Russell Bell, 85, of Spanishburg died Friday, November 2, 2012, at a Bristol, Tennessee, medical center.

Born March 6, 1927, in Spanishburg, she was the daughter of the late James Albert Stovall and Edna Lura Moye Stovall.

She worshipped at Stovall Ridge Baptist Church and was a former employee of Maidenform in Princeton. She was a school teacher in Mercer County for 29 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, was active in the Mercer County Historical Society, Bibbee Bird Club, DAR, UDC, Phi Delta Kappa and was a charter member of the Mercer County Quilting Club. She loved family reunions and enjoyed visiting her friends at the Commission on Aging.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Fred Russell, Jr., and one sister, Judith Stovall.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Davis and husband, Larry, of Tazewell, VA, and Cheryl Foley and husband, Marshall, of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Lois Riemer of Spanishburg, and one brother, Glennon Stovall and wife, Lucille, of Princeton; six grandchildren, Brian Foley, Robert Foley, Mark Foley, Karen Collins, Michael Davis and Sherri Hankins, and ten great-grandchildren, Kestrel Collins, David Collins, Ryan Hankins, Justin Hankins, Tara Hankins, Nicole Hankins, Evan Hankins, Alex Davis, Zachary Davis and Kaitlyn Foley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Reid Cemetery in Spanishburg.

Friends may visit at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012.

Russell Lee Bishop

SUMMERSVILLE — Russell Lee Bishop, 91, of Summersville died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the WV Memorial Gardens at Calvin with Chaplain Gary Moore officiating and military rites by the Nicholas County Honor Guard.

The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville is in charge of arrangements.

MULLENS — Peggy Brooks Cook, 79, of Mullens, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.

Andrew Lee Fama Sr., 80, of Beckley passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the United Methodist Temple with Pastor Randy Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Cosby ‘Butch’ Fry

SUMMERSVILLE — Cosby Roscoe “Butch” Fry, 97, of Summersville died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.

In keeping with his wishes the body was cremated and there will be no services at this time.

White Funeral Home at Summersville is in charge of the arrangements.



James Marvin Grose

PRINCETON — James Marvin Grose, 77, of 105 Garden Oaks in Princeton died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at his residence.

Born in Stevenson, WV, April 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Everette Grose and Ruby Blankenship Grose Milam.

He retired as the Chief Mine Inspector for Pocahontas Land Corporation after 28 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton. Marvin was a member of Princeton Elks Lodge #1459, Princeton Moose Lodge #1521 and a regular with his morning breakfast group, the “Ten Cent Millionaires.” He never met a stranger and was an avid WVU fan that dearly loved his family and friends and was loved by them in return. He had been a resident of Princeton since 1952 moving here from Stevenson.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Kay Maynard Grose; two daughters, Donna Maddox and Pam McCoy and husband Charlie, and one son, Jeff Grose and his wife Tina all of Princeton; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three brothers, Jack Grose and his wife Wanda, Gary Grose and his wife Beverly all of Princeton and Cliff Milam and his wife Sandy of Florida.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Marvin will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery and Pastor Archie Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers and members of the “Ten-Cent Millionaires” will be Honorary Pallbearers.

Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012, and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to honor Marvin may be made to the First Baptist Church, Music Fund, 1116 Mercer St., Princeton, WV 24740.

Narley J. ‘Punkin’ Morris

OAK HILL — Narley Jackson “Punkin” Morris, 60, of Oak Hill, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill.

Born on March 8, 1952, at Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Narley Benson and Betty Jean Jeffries Morris.

Narley was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. After graduation he worked for a furniture manufacturer.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Treadway Morris of Oak Hill; son, Michael Morris of Tustin, CA; daughter, Shauna Morris of Tustin, CA; brother, Garry Dale Morris and wife Brenda of Oak Hill; stepson, David Triplett and wife Melissa of Columbus, Ohio; stepdaughters, Davina Kirk and husband Brian of Fayetteville, and Mary Bryant of Oak Hill; niece and nephew, Brandon and Amanda Morris; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Robert Morey officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at the funeral home.
