PINEVILLE — Eugene Neal, 91, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Richmond.
Born January 16, 1922, in Matewan, WV, he was the son of the late William and Arizona Milam Neal.
Eugene was a member of Pineville Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Pineville Masonic Lodge for over fifty years, and also served as past Master. Eugene was also a member of the Fred Shannon Order of The Eastern Star. He was also a member and past President of the Pineville Lions Club, where he also served as the District Secretary, for the District Lions Club. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Submarine Services, during World War II. He enjoyed reading, playing golf and serving his community. He also enjoyed woodworking, and built many clocks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Alice Knight Neal; six brothers, Ray, Dock, Harold, Albert, Woodrow, and Homer; and five sisters, Pearl, Shirley, Roberta, Jessie, and Ethel.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Eugene Lee Neal and his wife, Darlene, of Hurricane; two daughters, Mary Margaret (Randi) Trumbauer and husband, David, of Ormond Beach, FL, and Katie Stump and husband, Dink, of Mullens; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A celebration of Eugene’s life will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013, at Pineville Presbyterian Church with Dr. Michael Curry officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
