Michael Franklin, age 54, of Cool Ridge, WV, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013, at the Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Weston, WV, following a long and extended illness.
Mike was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, on February 15, 1958, to Ronald and Doncia Weaver Franklin of Lashmeet, WV.
He was a 1976 graduate of Mullens High School, and had worked for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 20 years. Then in 1995 he opened Total Imaging Detailing where he became known as Big Mike to all who knew him.
Mike was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Claude Franklin, and his maternal grandparents, Cecil and Arrettia Weaver.
He is survived by his loving wife, Twila Broom Franklin; his only child and pride and joy Heather Franklin of Pineville, WV. His mother-in-law, Nancy Broom of Pineville, and his very special friend whom he considered his son Kris Duff of Beckley.
Also surviving are his parents, Ronald and Doncia Franklin of Lashmeet, his sister Debbie Franklin Patrick and her husband Robbie of Lashmeet, his brother Doug Franklin of Albany, Georgia, and his grandmother Kathleen Franklin of Mullens. A very special aunt Kathryn Franklin Kelly of Mullens; brothers-in-law Dale Broom of Harrisburg, NC, Bill Broom of Atlanta, Georgia, a sister-in-law, Linda Arbogast and husband Sheldon of Manassas, Virginia; his nephews, Matt Arbogast and son Gavin of Tennessee, Alan Arbogast and wife Kerishma (and sons Kiyan and Kai) of Virginia, Benjamin Patrick of Lashmeet, Jeremey Patrick of Lashmeet, and Jamey and Paula Patrick and great-niece Allie of Stafford, Virginia.
His very special friends, Don and Ashley Hall of Cool Ridge, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at 6 p.m. with Rev. Melissa White officiating. There will be a visitation for family members only.
