Anna Chesunas Bias
OAK HILL — Anna Chesunas Bias, 90, of Oak Hill, died on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hilltop.
Born April 14, 1921, at Eccles, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Edna Legonis Chesunas.
Anna was a homemaker.
Her husband, Charles L. Bias Sr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Charles L. Bias Jr. of Portsmouth, Va., Thomas E. Bias of Oak Hill and Fred L. Bias of Nitro, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with her grandson Rev. Charles L. Bias officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, with a final blessing to be given by Father Paul Yuenger.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.
Family member and friends will serve as pallbearers.

William Robert ‘Bob’ Clay
William Robert “Bob” Clay, a lifelong resident of Raleigh County, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.
Bob was born December 27, 1933, at Pettus, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by his father Mayo Andrew Clay, a grandson, Edward Charles Clay Jr., and grandparents, Charles Robert Clay and Laura Belle Acord Clay, who raised him.
Bob was a graduate of Marsh Fork High School in Raleigh County and The Trades Training Institute of Mississippi State College as well as the Cummins School of Diesel Engines in Columbus, IN. He began in his youth working with his father at the family-owned business Clay Block Factory at Pettus and Valley Trucking Company located at Zanesville, OH. He was considered an expert in the field of heavy equipment and was actively working until his death.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean War.
Bob is survived by sons: William Robert Clay Jr. of Boomer, NC, and Edward Charles Clay, Sr., of Pettus, Bernice “Bunny” Roles Clay of Pettus, mother of Bob’s sons, four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters: Sue Clay Cassell of Charleston, W.Va., and Patricia Clay Myers of Beckley, W.Va., two nieces and one nephew.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12th, 2012, at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, with Pastor David Minturn officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Rock Creek.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Arless Ward Cozart
FAIRDALE — Arless Ward Cozart, 90, of Fairdale, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House.
Born March 21, 1921, at Tipple, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert T. and Sarah Evelyn Poke Cozart.
Arless was a former coal miner retiring from Slab Fork Coal Co. He had been a member of the Akers Baptist Church for the past 55 years and a member of the UMWA for 70 years. He was a WWII veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. Arless loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ivory Acord Cozart, grandson, Jackie Davis Jr., and 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son, Kelton Cozart Sr. and wife Judy of Fairdale; daughter, Bette Davis and husband Jack of Fairdale; grandchildren, Kelton Cozart Jr. and wife Cheryl of Lanark, Arless Cozart and wife Trishia of Danese, Bobby Davis Sr. of Fairdale, Eric Davis and wife Michelle of Madison, NC; great-grandchildren, Amber Nelson and husband Travis, Kristen Davis, Bobby Davis Jr., Madi Davis, Dean Davis, Sara Davis, Brittany Bennett and husband Eric, Casey Cozart and Savannah Mullins.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ardith Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Acord Mountain Cemetery.

David William ‘Maddog’ Hager
GLEN FORK — David William “Maddog” Hager, 53, of Glen Fork, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.
David was born March 21, 1958, in St. Petersburg, Fla., a son of Christlene Yvonne Walker Hensley and the late Blevins Hager Sr.
He loved fishing, hunting, ginsenging, 4-wheeler riding and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother Blevins Hager Jr., stepfather Clarence Hensley, brother-in-law Thomas Edward McMillion, mother and father-in-law Kemper and Alice McMillion, brother-in-law Vencil Harper, grandmother Sylvia Bell, grandfather Watson Raleigh, grandparents Leander and Katherine Walker and foster-mom Beatrice George.
David was a former member of the West Virginia National Guard.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 33 years Doreen Mae Hager; two daughters Sarah (Martin) Toler of Oceana and Victoria (Aubrey) Miller Jr. of Cyclone; his mother Christlene Yvonne Walker Hensley of Kings Mountain, NC; a brother Douglas Hager of Oceana; five sisters Darlene (Danny) Cooke of Oceana, Betty Christian of Cleveland, TN, Kathy (Bob) Workman of Cyclone, Jeannie Harper of Kings Mountain, NC, and Gevondelon Graham of Mullens; and an uncle Bill Walker of Kopperston; stepbrother Clarence Hensley Jr. of NC; sister and brother-in-law Mary and Nelson Jarrell of Glen Fork; his best friends Jim T. Brown, Sr., and Jewell Jean Toler his mother-in-law; also leaving behind a host of family, friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Rev. Bill Stewart officiating.
In keeping with David’s wishes he will be cremated following the funeral and his cremains will be buried at a later date in the family cemetery.
Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at the funeral home.

GARWOOD — Iris Earlene Walker Mills, 80, of Garwood, formerly of Covel, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012, at her residence following a short illness.
Born September 24, 1931, at Vaughan, she was the daughter of the late William Okey and Minnie Jesse Morris Walker.
Mrs. Mills was a homemaker; at the end of the day when we pause to remember Iris, we shall remember her to being a loving and devoted mother to raising her children and as being a strong woman which the world needs more of.
In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; a daughter, Janice Holstein; a brother, Eugene Walker; and a sister, Ana Mae Backus.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Jonalee Mills of Huntersville, NC; five sons, Dennis Mills and his wife, Karen, of Phelps, KY, Benny Mills of Itmann, Ricky Mills and his wife, Lisa, of Glen Fork, Chester Mills of Garwood, and Okey Mills and his wife, Beth, of Athens; two sisters, Judy McKinney of Hickory, NC, and Beulah Marie Holcomb and her husband, Jewel, of Clay County; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens, with a eulogy being offered by Dwayne Walker. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.
