Mildred Covey Seco
On Wednesday, May 15th, 2013, our most cherished, Mildred Covey Seco, died suddenly at her home in Glen Morgan. She was in her 83rd year.
One of three children, Mildred Ameth Covey was born on Dec. 17th, 1929, at Glen White. She was the daughter of the late Snowden and Thetta Milam Covey. Her brother, Fred Covey, has preceded her in death.
A graduate of Shady Spring High School, Beckley College and Morris Harvey College, Mildred Seco will be remembered as a very dedicated school teacher. An educator for 27 years in the Raleigh County public school system, she taught at Daniels Elementary for 20 years, retiring in 1988. Mildred loved her students and her profession.
For the past 66 years, Mildred has been blessed to be married to William P. Seco, who survives her. To this union were born two daughters, Elaine Seco and Charlene Wiseman and her husband, Raymond, all of Glen Morgan, who will forever cherish her memory.
Mildred was the doting grandmother to Billy Ray Wiseman and his wife, Lisa, and their children, Peyton and Rylee, of Grandview; Rusty Wiseman and his wife, Daphne, and their children, Colton and Braylie, of Shady Spring; she was the fond sister of Jack Covey and his wife, Elsie, of Beckley; many nieces and nephews survive as well as former students, co-workers, neighbors, friends; and her ever faithful pet, Callie the cat.
When her family recalls Mildred, they remember her love of family, her gift for cooking, taking care of her home and working in her flowers.
On Sunday, May 19th, at 2 p.m. we will honor the life of Mildred Covey Seco with a “Service of Remembrance” at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Steven Beverly will be officiating. Mildred will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Condolences may be sent to the family’s guestbook at www.meltonmortuary.com.
Arrangements by Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center, Beckley.
