Leo Porreca

Leo Porreca, age 76, of Beckley passed away Friday, March 21st, 2014, after a short illness.

Born July 19th, 1937, in Charleroi, PA, he was the son of Rosina and Anthony Porreca.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly, and a brother, Anthony.

Leo valued his family and God above all else. He was always happy and loved to tell jokes and stories to make people laugh. Leo was always a pleasure to be around and he leaves a legacy of laughter and love. He will be missed by many.

Leo served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked in sales for Lee-Norse Company and Phillips Machine for 50 years.

He was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Church where he was an usher. Leo was an active member of the Knights of Columbus holding the 3rd Degree.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Darlene; son, Mark Porreca and wife, Wendy, of Bowling Green, KY; brother, Donald and wife, Sherryn, of Grandview; brother-in-law, Jack Stephenson and wife, Cheryl, of Pittsburgh; he also leaves behind his grandchildren: Shawn Sims and companion, Ashley, of Beckley, Jennifer Rose Porreca and companion, Matt Burke, of Chicago, Michelle and Katherine Porreca of Chicago, Krystle Crese of Beckley. Leo’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of his life and he was happiest when he was around them. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to thank the Phillips family of employees for their love and concern, especially Tom Cushman and others way too numerous to mention. Their calls and acts of kindness meant so much to Leo.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. There will be a scripture service at 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, March 24th, at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Monsignor Samuel Sacus and Fr. Pen will be the celebrants, assisted by Rev. Mr. William Donald Wise and Rev. Mr. John F. Ziolkowski. The Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Sebastian Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Mark Porreca, Shawn Sims, Scott Stephenson, Don Porreca, Tom Cushman, Jack Stephenson, Lew Savisky, John E. Voloski and Joe Voloski.
