Willie Mae Terry
Willie Mae Terry died March 18, 2014, at Raleigh General Hospital, following a long illness.
She was born in Winding Gulf, W.Va., to William Robert Terry and Ella Mae Hairston Terry.
She was baptized at an early age and later became a Jehovah’s Witness and was baptized in this faith and was a faithful and dedicated servant until God called her home. She attended Winding Gulf Elementary School, Byrd Prillerman High School and later graduated from Stratton High School. After high school Willie Mae furthered her education at Bluefield College and later on attended Hunter College in New York. She then began her life journey traveling abroad to places such as Acapulco and to the beautiful Country of Europe. When she returned to New York, she worked as a cashier for a few years then returned home to Beckley, to take care of her mother in her last day as well as help with raising her nieces and nephews. Once that mission was with the Kingdom Hall Family witnessing to all within arms’ reach about Jehovah.
She was predeceased by her parents, William Robert and Ella Mae Terry of Beckley; sister, Dorothy Williams of Mt. Vernon, New York; brother, James D. Terry.
She is survived by brothers: William Edward Terry of West Virginia and Thomas Lewis Terry of Houston, Texas; nephews: Daryl L. Terry, Thomas D. Terry, Ervin J. Graham, James R. Terry and Curtis E. Terry; nieces: Kiwana Dennis, Mauricia Thompson, Veronica Williams, Sharon William, Crystal D. Terry, Jacqueline Terry, Anita A. Terry and Alicia William and the Heartland Family.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Durgan Funeral Chapel, 1501 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, with Terry Sizemore officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will meet one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
