On Friday, August 9th, 2013, our most cherished, Madleen Miller of Chase Street, Beckley, went to see her Lord and Savior. Madleen passed away at the Bowers Hospice House. She was 69 years of age.
One of seven children, Madleen Estep was born on April 28th, 1944, at Joe’s Creek in Boone County. Her parents were the late Ivel and Kathleen Flora Estep. A sister, Alma White, has preceded her in death. Madleen was the dear sister of Freda Buzzard and her husband James, Maxine Miller and her husband, Edgar, Terry Estep and his wife, Wilma, Tommy Estep all of Orgas and Alice Hunter and her husband, Paul, of Seth. Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Madleen spent her early life in Boone County; she attended Sherman High School. On June 29th, 1963, she married her beloved husband, Dennis Whitelaw Miller. To their union was born their only child, a son, Dennis Lee, on April 2, 1965. Lee, as he was affectionately known, brought great joy to their lives and was the sunshine of their home. Madleen had a great fondness for her husband’s family, the Millers. Dennis and Madleen have made their home in Beckley over the past thirty years. They worshiped at the Callaway Heights Baptist Church. Madleen, in her leisure time, enjoyed crafting. Tragically, Lee died on March 24th, 2011.
On Tuesday, August 13th, at 1 p.m. the life of Madleen will be remembered at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastors Bill Parker and Jeff Canterbury will be officiating. Madleen will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, near her beloved Lee, and now… “Oh Glad Reunion.”
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Condolences may be sent to the family’s guestbook at www.meltonmortuary.com.
