Della Faye Gwinn

HINTON — Della Faye Gwinn, 99, of Hinton died at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Serenity Place Care Home in Lerona after a long illness.

Born May 2, 1914, at Thayer, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Della Jane Ennis Berry.

Faye was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. She and her late husband made their home for many years at Meadow Creek before moving to Hinton in their later years. She was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton as long as her health permitted. She was a former member of Court of the Sacred Heart and the Altar Society and was a member of the Women of St. Patrick. Faye was active in various church functions for many years, including visiting shut-ins and serving on the decorating committee. She also participated in Adult Religious Education for many years at the church. She was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Gwinn. Also preceded by an adopted niece, Sue Hardy, a brother, Ralph Berry, and a sister, Vergie Berry.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include her caregivers, Gordy and wife Adina Hardy of Nimitz and their children, Logan, Dylan and Keira. Niece, Drema Farley and husband David of Meadow Bridge, nephew, John Gwinn of California, great-niece, Davida Farley of Meadow Bridge, great-nephew, Matthew Farley of Dublin, Ohio. Special friends, Tom and Patty Stacklin of Hinton, Karen Eagle of Hinton and numerous church family members who were dear to Faye.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton with Father Rey Landicho as celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Men of St. Patrick Catholic Church will serve as pallbearers.
