Leonard Mason Richmond
FAYETTEVILLE — Leonard Mason Richmond, 61, passed away Feb. 19, 2013, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill.
Born Feb. 26, 1951, at Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Alva Rosco and Ida Bell Pyatt Richmond.
Leonard was a retired master plumber and had 39 years of service with the Fayette County Board of Education. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being outside and working in his garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Richmond and Cordie Lee Richmond; and four sisters, Mabel Gilson, Daisy Bryant, Joetta Richmond and Drema Jones.
Left to cherish many wonderful memories include his wife, Deanna Newhouse Richmond; son, Jonathan Richmond and companion, Tina Young of Fayetteville; daughter, Nichole Richmond and fiancé, Chris Cook of Fayetteville; sister, Masel Bays of Fayetteville; his faithful companion, Romeo; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor James Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the funeral home.

Virginia A. Smith, 87, of Crow, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness. She was born Aug. 28, 1925.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Smith; a brother, Johnny Richmond; a sister, Ruth Gail Rone; her parents, John and Myrtle Richmond and two grandchildren, Keith and Brian McLaughlin.
Virginia worked with her husband, Jack as owners of Smith’s Grocery until closing in 1984. Mom was an avid bowler and loved to decorate for the holidays, especially at Christmas.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Fred McMillion of Daniels; Carol McLaughlin and her husband, Pat of Crow; Patty Furrow and her husband, Roger of Crow; Don Smith and his wife, Crissy of Cool Ridge; Martha Atkins and her companion, Tim of Beckley; Bobby Smith of Daniels; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Louise Richmond of Stanaford; and sister, Myrtle Ann Peacock of Alabama.
Virginia’s wishes are to be cremated and her ashes be buried with husband, Jack in Wildwood Cemetery at Beckley.
A private service will held at the Melton Mortuary for family at close friends.
