Carl Williams Adams III, 43, of Beaver, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013.

Joseph Aliff, 33, of Beckley passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.

Tammy Lynn Serreno Bennett

BUCKHANNON — Tammy Lynn Serreno Bennett, 53, of Buckhannon, formerly of Alderson, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with the Rev. Greg Lockridge officiating. Burial will follow at the Gwinn Cemetery, Lockbridge. Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the funeral home.

Carol Sue Daniels

GILBERT — Carol Sue Daniels, 63, of Gilbert, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Faith Church of God, Wharncliffe, with the Rev. Danny Ward. Burial will be in Daniels Cemetery, Glen Alum. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 with a special service at 7 p.m. at the church.

Kenneth M. Dodd

LEWISBURG — Kenneth M. Dodd, 72, of Lewisburg, went home to heaven to be with the Lord on February 16, 2013.

He will be reunited with his mom and dad, John and Lovetta Dodd. To be followed by his wife of 48 years, Genevieve (Gissie) Dodd. He will always be loved and in her heart until she joins him in heaven. He will also be joyfully missed by “Gunner” and his children, son Doug (Susan) Dodd of Fairlea, daughter Karen (Rob) Rowe of Efland, NC, two precious grandchildren, Amanda and Daniel Rowe of Efland, NC, brothers and sisters, John (Janice) Dodd of Lewisburg, Roy (Shelby) Dodd of Caldwell, Charlotte (John) Morgan of Caldwell, Georgene (Bobby) Deitz of Lewisburg, and lots of family and friends.

He was a retired school bus driver and loved his backhoe work. He was a member of the Community Pentecostal Holiness Church of Lewisburg. He loved all people, his church, had an awesome sense of humor, and was truly loved by everyone he met.

Visitation will be Monday, February 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Community Pentecostal Holiness Church on Brush Road with Pastor Everette (Hat) Defibaugh officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Rowe, John (Sonny) Dodd, Roy Dodd, Brian Dodd, Kevin Deitz, Scott Graham and Douglas (Doug) Dodd.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Community Pentecostal Holiness Church in memory of Kenny, HC 37 Box 198 AA, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

Kenneth Harlen Payne

Kenneth Harlen Payne, 82, of Daniels, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013.

Born August 5, 1930, at Blue Jay, WV, to the late Paul P. Payne and Maude Smith Epperly Payne.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Payne; and a sister, Edith Dorsey.

Kenneth served in the United States Air Force stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida. He also attended Faith Baptist Church in Prosperity.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years, married February 10,1953, Mrs. Anna Pearl Bragg Payne, at home; daughter, Kay Ellen Peters (Jerry) of Beckley; son, Kenneth Paul Payne (Nancy) of Cool Ridge; sister, Nancy Ellen Payne Maddy of Gahanna, OH; grandchildren, Christopher Payne (Becca), Andrea Williams (Joe), Carrie Gibson (Matt), Caitlin Elswick (Patrick), Cynthia Crook (Chris); 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel in Beckley with Pastor Larry Halsey officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity where the Oak Hill VFW Post 3110 will conduct military graveside rites.

The gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Chris Cook, Christopher Payne, Patrick Elswick, Doug Maddy, Joe Williams, and Matt Gibson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Ernest Perry Jr.

CABIN CREEK — Ernest Perry Jr., 87, of Cabin Creek went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born February 13, 1926, at Cabin Creek. He was the son of the late Ernest and Edith Perry.

Mr. Perry was a Navy Veteran who served in WWII. He joined at the age of 17 and was Honorably Discharged. He was also a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and a well-respected minister of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Perry; a son, Robert “Buddy” Perry; daughter, Judy Butler; grandson, James Dean Perry III; sisters, Alice and Jannet; brothers, Ivan, Lacy, Frank, Vernon, Hayes, and Garner.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Desree Perry; daughters, Sandy King (David), Shara Painter (JL), Donna Williams (Joey), and Vicki Smith; sons, Dean (Belva), Jackie (Becky), and Ricky (Sandy); brothers, Elmer Perry, James Perry, and Charles Walk; daughter-in-law, Lois Perry; stepdaughter, Brenda Bare (Roger); 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, February 19, 2013, at 1 o’clock in the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV, with the Rev. Cecil McClellan and the Rev. Herman Freeman. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, WV.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 Monday evening at the funeral home.



Mary D. Lilly Roberts

Mary D. Lilly Roberts was born on July 28, 1930. She left this earth on Saturday, February 16, 2013, after a long illness to join her family in Heaven. She was the last surviving member of her sisters and brothers.

Mary was the daughter of John Henry Lilly who died in 1944 and Nancy Birchfield who died in 1932, when Mary was only 18 months old. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Gillenwater, Melvie McCoy, Laura Yearout, and Nancy Young, and her brothers, Benny Lilly, Willard Lilly, Joseph Lilly, and Woodrow Lilly; also gone before her were a daughter, Brenda White, and a granddaughter, Lori Beth Roberts.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill Roberts of Beaver; son, Ronnie Roberts and his wife, Wilma, of Beaver, son, Bill Roberts, Jr., and his wife, Lora, of Beaver, and a daughter, Sharon Meredith of Hinton; eleven grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren whom Mary enjoyed immensely.

Mary was a homemaker after retiring as a cook. She also worked for Beckley Manufacturing and the Honey in the Rock Motel. She enjoyed going to church, working puzzles, growing flowers, watching and feeding the birds, and collecting angels. She loved spending time with her family and had a wonderful sense of humor, laughing often.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Terry Weatherly officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank all of the staff of Bowers Hospice House for their kindness and caring and the Hinton Gospel Tabernacle for standing by Mary and her family through her illness.

PRINCETON — Elizabeth June Robinette, 60, of Princeton, formerly of Iaeger, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.

Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Old Pathway Church, Johnny Cake Mountain. She will be laid to rest in the Day Cemetery, Old Vance Hollow, Iaeger. Friends may gather with the family after 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at the church.
