OAK HILL — Rosa Lee Scott Bobbitt, 83, of Oak Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.

Rebecca S. ‘Nanny’ Calvert
ELKINS — Rebecca S. “Nanny” Calvert, age 76 years, a former resident of Daniels, and a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday evening, January 11, 2014, in the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Unit in Elkins.
She was born June 1, 1937, at Wickham, W.Va., a daughter of the late Walter Sherman Elder and the late Myrtle Mae Brizendine Elder.
On April 25, 1955, in Honolulu, HI, she was married to Billie Eugene Calvert, who preceded her in death on March 29, 1997.
Surviving are one son, Gary E. Calvert and wife Carol, Daniels; two daughters, Brenda Loving-Hatcher and husband Dexter, Beaver, and Teresa Simmons and husband Billy of Elkins; one brother, Ronald Elder, Beckley; three sisters, Muriel Daub and husband Leon, Lebanon, Pa., Hazel Naugle, Mt. Hope, and Ila Mae Lane, Manhiem, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Gregory and J.C. Calvert, Michael Loving, Joshua, Paul and Hunter Simmons and Breanne Calvert; as well as ten great-grandchildren, a foster grandchild, Tessa, and the faithful family dog, “Butterscotch,” also survive.
Also preceding her in death were one brother, Donald Elder, and a nephew, Todd McMullen.
Mrs. Calvert attended the schools of Raleigh County, was a homemaker and a member of the Mabscott United Church. She was an avid bowler and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for many years.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Thursday, January 16th, she will be moved to the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Chapel in Beckley, where friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held from the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Vondie Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Mary Evelyn Cole
WINONA — Mary Evelyn Cole, 79, of Winona, went home to be with the Lord, following a long illness at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, on Sunday, January 12, 2014.
She was born in Winona, on Sunday, July 22, 1934, the daughter of Vernon Everett Cole and Edith Crosby Idell Cole.
She was a loving and devoted sister who took care of her mother and housebound brother. She was a Christian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Wilma L. Cole of West Virginia, Wanda Fay Pridemore of California; brothers Thomas Edward Cole of California, Everett Andrew Cole Sr. of New York, Vernon Leslie Cole of West Virginia.
Survivors include her beloved Cheryl Lynn Sears and her husband Leonidas of Dacula, Georgia; sister Betty Jane Harrell of Winona, West Virginia; brothers Robert Floyd Cole and his wife Barbara of West Seneca, New York; Charles Ray Cole and his wife Kathy of Hamburg, New York; James Jerry Cole Sr. and his wife Connie of Winona, West Virginia; Donald Michael Cole and his wife Carol of Winona, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Ansted, West Virginia, with Rev. Michael Loudermilk officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennette Cemetery, Lookout, West Virginia.
Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Ansted.

LOGAN — Joseph Denver Godby, 84, of Logan, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan with Danny Godby and the Rev. Andy Wade officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

Ralph W. Mann
UNION — Mr. Ralph W. Mann, 93, of Union, passed away on January 7, 2014, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
He was born August 26, 1920, at Ronceverte, W.Va., the son of the late Arthur Henry and Mary Winton Mann.
Mr. Mann graduated from Ronceverte High School and West Virginia University and then graduated from the U.S. Naval Reserve Midshipman School and was a Lt.JG in the U.S. Navy serving in WWII in the Invasion of Japan. After the war, he was employed at the Bank of Monroe in March of 1948 and became President and CEO in 1981 and received the WV Banker’s Association, Banker of the Year award in 2006. He was a founding member of the Union Volunteer Fire Department, a Member of the Chamber of Commerce, a member, Elder and Trustee of the Union Presbyterian Church and a 50-year-plus member of Monroe Lodge # 77 AF & AM in Union.
Mr. Mann was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Ellison Mann on December 28, 2012.
He is survived by one son: Ralph E. “Skipper” Mann and wife Jane of Union, one daughter, Margaret Theissen and husband Paul of Grainau, Germany, one brother: Lindy Mann and wife Betty of Ronceverte; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson August Daniel born on May 24, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Union Presbyterian Church with Pastor Nancy Bulla officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until funeral time on Friday.
A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Green Hill Cemetery in Union with Monroe Lodge # 77 AF & AM conducting the services.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contribution be made to the Union Vol. Fire Department, Union Rescue Squad or the Union Presbyterian Church.
Members of Monroe Lodge # 77 AF & AM will serve as pallbearers.

Ramona ‘Mona’ J. Prince
Ramona “Mona” J. Prince, 79, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend of Beckley, formerly of West Raleigh, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 10, 2014.
She was born on July 22, 1934, in Pax to the late Winfield and Veda Pinson Hall.
Mona loved the Lord. She set an example of her love for Him through her actions and the way she treated others. She loved singing in the church choir and is now a beautiful voice in Heaven’s choir. She was a member of Cranberry Baptist Church where she enjoyed the Ladies Bible Class, loved shopping, attending anything that her grandchildren were involved in and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands and the fathers of her children, Robert Sanford Givens and Franklin Delano Prince; and a sister, Aleda Hinkle.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving son, Robert Alan Givens of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Yost and husband, Bo, of Beckley, and Patricia Ann Bostic and husband, Keith, of Glen Daniel; seven grandchildren, Jessica Givens, Robert Givens, Wyatt Givens, Brandon Yost, Jordon Yost, Chloe Bostic, and Ciara Bostic; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Jasmine; a sister, Betty Kidd of Beckley; a special friend, Herb Bowyer; several nieces, nephews, extended family and a special pet, Chica.
Services to celebrate the life and faith of Ramona “Mona” J. Prince will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Roger E. Pauley officiating. Following the services she will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may gather with the family Monday, January 13, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and from 12 noon until time of the service Tuesday.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Jeanne Dawn Suttle, 39, of Goldsboro, formerly of Harvey, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center, Greensville, N.C.
She was born July 15, 1974, to Robert “Buck” Johnson and Jean Suttle Johnson.
Jeanne was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nephew, Charles Canaday Jr., and sister-in-law, Frances Suttle.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Brandon Sears and Surgio Suttle of Harvey and daughter Alexis Suttle of Scarbro; Sisters, Della Sears and her husband Ronald, and Debbie Canaday and her husband, Bubby. Brothers include Dennis Suttle, Michael Suttle and wife, Tena, and Bill Suttle and wife, Sharla.
A Private Service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Louise Marie Toler
GILBERT, ARIZ. — Louise Marie Toler, 89, formerly of Fayetteville, W.Va., passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014, in Arizona.
She was born on July 15, 1924, in Minden, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Dallas and Ethel Burgess.
Mrs. Toler was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. She was a former employee of Long-Airdox in Oak Hill and she owned and operated the former Tookie’s Fashions in Fayetteville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Keatley Toler; her sisters, Betty Likens and June Holt; and daughter, Tana Sue Simonton.
She is survived by her son, James Keatley Toler Jr. and his wife, Kathryn, of Fayetteville, W.Va.; her son-in-law, David Simonton of Gilbert, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Mariposa Gardens on January 25, 2014, in Mesa, Arizona.
