Carol Elizabeth Yeager, 78, of Beckley went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, December 19, 2013, in Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness.

Born October 21, 1935, in Coal City, Carol was the daughter of the late Orville and Mavis McQuade Farley.

Carol was a graduate of Morris Harvey College. She retired from the Raleigh County Board of Education, where she was a teacher for many years, last working at Lincoln Elementary. Carol dedicated her life to the betterment of all children. She loved teaching children in the classroom, as well as the children in the AWANA program that she taught at her church. Carol dearly loved children. Carol was a longtime member of the Sophia First Baptist Church, where she served in many different ministries in the church. When her health made it difficult for her to attend, she began a card ministry to continue to be a blessing to her church family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Gene Yeager, her sisters Doris Decker, and Eleanor Large.

Those left to cherish her memory include her five children: Diana Waddell and her husband Duke, Bob Alderman and his wife Kay, Marsha Mclemore and her husband Terry, Tim Alderman and his fiancée Sonya, and Leisa Moore, and her husband Brad, 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great-grandchildren, her brother Sonny Farley and his wife Carol, and a host of nieces, nephews, beloved church family, and many friends.

Carol’s Home going will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013, at the Sophia First Baptist Church with her pastor Rev. Charles Gilbert officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
