Karen Christine Griffin

SUMMERSVILLE — Karen Christine Griffin, 58, of Summersville died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the Waters Funeral Chapel at Summersville with Pastor Arnold Nicholas officiating. Burial will follow in the Zoar Cemetery at Keslers Cross Lanes. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral chapel.


Cynthia M. Hyman

Mrs. Cynthia M. Hyman, 82, of Beckley, died Thursday, November 15, 2012, at the Veterans Medical Center, Beckley, after a long illness.

Born May 10, 1930, in Raleigh, WV, she was the daughter of the late Mildred E. Jones.

Cynthia grew up in the coal camps of Raleigh, and graduated from Stratton High School in Beckley, W.Va., at 16 years old. Despite having a full scholarship to Spelman College in Atlanta, Ga., she entered the Women’s Army Corp, with parental consent.

Mrs. Hyman was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sisters Alice J. Mitchell and Sandra R. Evans and brother William E. Jones.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Deacon Edward Hyman of Beckley; daughter Tanya MarCia of Placitas, New Mexico; an uncle and hosts of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Copney officiating.

FOREST HILL — Susan Littlejohn, 48, of Forest Hill, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012.

Arrangements are pending completion at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, 1901 S. Kanawha St., Beckley.

Nathan Wayne McGraw Jr. of Beckley, son of Nathan and Abrillya McDowell McGraw, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012.
