Chessie Marie Stroupe McPeake
PINEVILLE — Chessie Marie Stroupe McPeake, 80, of Pineville, went home to be with the Lord, on March 6, 2013, in WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born April 1, 1932, in Welch, W.Va., a daughter of the late Hobert Stroupe and Georgia Bell Stroupe Akers.
Chessie was a member of the Pineville Presbyterian Church and a longtime employee of the Wyoming County Board of Education, mostly teaching at Pineville Elementary School.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Richard T. McPeake, her stepfather J.W. Akers, a son Michael D. McPeake, a brother Cecil Stroupe and a sister Margaret Swimm.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son James R. McPeake and wife Wanda Lou of Lahmansville, W.Va.; a niece Debbie Marsh and husband Rodney of Pineville; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Pineville Presbyterian Church, Pineville, with Rev. Melissa White officiating.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church.

CURRITUCK, N.C. — Mary Tarquinto Sir, 84, of Currituck, formerly of Logan County, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013.

Leon A. ‘John’ Waggoner
Leon A. “John” Waggoner, 94, of Beckley, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
Born November 21, 1918, in Wirt County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Roy and Laura Feree Waggoner.
Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Leon was employed with Cabot Corporation for 38 years and as an Independent Oil and Gas operator for 35 years. He was a graduate of Wirt County High School.
In addition to his parents, Leon is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Opal Davis Waggoner; son-in-law, Vincent Tyree; daughter-in-law, Roger Ann Wilkinson-Waggoner; sisters, Helen Vincent, Sue Thias, and Dorothy Cox.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Carolyn Tyree of Sissonville, W.Va., Marilyn Spencer of Beckley, Janice Cook and husband Ralph of Durham, N.C.; sons, Adrian Waggoner and wife Nora of Pineville, W.Va., Phillip Waggoner and wife Deborah of Miami, Fla., Robert Waggoner and wife Susan of Pineville, W.Va.; sisters, Lucille Cox of Elizabeth, W.Va., Sally Compton of Parkersburg, W.Va.; brother, Emery Waggoner and wife Evelyn; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Jesse Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Friends may gather with the family Friday, April 19, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
