Anthony Russell Aliff

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Anthony Russell Aliff, 37, of Indianapolis, formerly of Pineville, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with the Rev. Oza Mullins Jr. officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. Following the services he will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the funeral home.

Hubert Lloyd Aliff

Hubert Lloyd Aliff, 81, of Beckley, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at New Prospect Baptist Church at Sweenysburg, with Pastor Gary Williams officiating. In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated. Inurnment will take place in the Williams Family Cemetery at Cirtsville, following the service.

Ernest Eugene Kincaid

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Ernest Eugene Kincaid, 50, born March 5, 1963, in Burlington, Iowa, formerly of Beckley, was found dead in his home Tuesday, April 9, 2013, of a sudden illness.

He is survived by a sister, Deborah A. “Sissy” Kincaid and companion, Keith G. Oakes, of Beckley; children, Heather Leigh Kincaid, Aaron Ernest Kincaid and Lindsay A. Kincaid, all of Lansing, Mich.; grandchildren, twins, Ayianna Rain Donald and Jason Lamar Donald, Lanita Jo Donald and Noah Marshall Donald; a family of cousins and friends; his companion, Debrah Moats of Kalamazoo, Mich., and special buddy Zeus.

Sadly missed by Anna H. Thomas and Patricia A. Gross, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Marshall Kincaid; brother, Leonard Marshall “Bubby” Kincaid Jr.; and special aunt, Zelma K. Kincaid Thomas.

Wilda ‘Sue’ Kivett

SHADY SIDE, Md. — Wilda “Sue” Kivett, 67, formerly of Beckwith, W.Va., passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, surrounded by her loved ones at the home of her son.

Born on February 20, 1946, at Montgomery, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Allie and Ruth Canterbury Copley.

Sue was a member of Deale Baptist Church in Deale, Md. She was a retired supervisor for Kelly Press in Maryland. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as sewing, knitting, and boating with her husband, Terry.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Copley; nephews, Matthew Cooley, Benjamin and Jeffery Mathews; and stepson, Michael Joseph Kivett.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories include her husband, Terry Kivett of Shady Side; son, Doug (Leigh Ann) Knott of Fayetteville; stepson, Tony (Darlene) Kivett of St. Leonard, Md.; stepdaughter, Michelle Kivett Hartley of North Beach, Md.; and grandchildren, Kyle and Lauren Knott of Fayetteville; stepgrandchildren: Heather, Justin, Ryan and Josh Kivett, Ashley Simpson, Tyler Kivett, Jenna and Kelsey Hartley, and Kyle Terczak; four stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Phillip (Annette) Treadway of Beckwith; sisters, Porky (Gene) Mathews of Oak Hill, Donna (John) Ramsey of Stevensville, Md., and Myra Cooley of Beckwith; two special friends, Betty Helton and Evelyn Kaczmar; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with her uncle, Pastor Mack Canterbury, and Pastor Robert Mayes officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Todd Cooley, Michael Cooley, Adam Matthews, Chad Everett, Justin Kivett, and Ryan Kivett.

Chessie Marie Stroupe McPeake

PINEVILLE — Chessie Marie Stroupe McPeake, 80, of Pineville, went home to be with the Lord, on March 6, 2013, in WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

She was born April 1, 1932, in Welch, W.Va., a daughter of the late Hobert Stroupe and Georgia Bell Stroupe Akers.

Chessie was a member of the Pineville Presbyterian Church and a longtime employee of the Wyoming County Board of Education, mostly teaching at Pineville Elementary School.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Richard T. McPeake, her stepfather J.W. Akers, a son Michael D. McPeake, a brother Cecil Stroupe and a sister Margaret Swimm.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son James R. McPeake and wife Wanda Lou of Lahmansville, W.Va.; a niece Debbie Marsh and husband Rodney of Pineville; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Pineville Presbyterian Church, Pineville, with Rev. Melissa White officiating.

CURRITUCK, N.C. — Mary Tarquinto Sir, 84, of Currituck, formerly of Logan County,  passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013.

Leon A. ‘John’ Waggoner

Leon A. “John” Waggoner, 94, of Beckley, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013. 

Born November 21, 1918, in Wirt County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Roy and Laura Feree Waggoner.

Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Leon was employed with Cabot Corporation for 38 years and as an Independent Oil and Gas operator for 35 years. He was a graduate of Wirt County High School.

In addition to his parents, Leon is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Opal Davis Waggoner; son-in-law, Vincent Tyree; daughter-in-law, Roger Ann Wilkinson-Waggoner; sisters, Helen Vincent, Sue Thias, and Dorothy Cox.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Carolyn Tyree of Sissonville, W.Va., Marilyn Spencer of Beckley, Janice Cook and husband Ralph of Durham, N.C.; sons, Adrian Waggoner and wife Nora of Pineville, W.Va., Phillip Waggoner and wife Deborah of Miami, Fla., Robert Waggoner and wife Susan of Pineville, W.Va.; sisters, Lucille Cox of Elizabeth, W.Va., Sally Compton of Parkersburg, W.Va.; brother, Emery Waggoner and wife Evelyn; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Jesse Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, April 19, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lyda Wilson

On Sunday, March 24th, 2013, Lyda Marie Adkins Wilson passed away at her home at Packs Branch, Mt. Hope. She was 72 years of age.

Born February 10, 1941, at Beckley, Lyda was the daughter of the late Ralph and Arbutus Shrewsbury Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald E. Wilson, and son, Ronald “Ronnie” M. Wilson, both in 2003.

Lyda was employed at Black Knight Country Club from 1973 to 2000. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Pax.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Debbie Endicott and her husband, Rick, of Horse Creek; son, Timmy Wilson of Packs Branch; son, Teddy Wilson and his wife, Tina, of Mt. Hope; 11 grandchildren: Reanna Brown, Jeff Endicott, Ashley, Tiffany, Timara, Teddy II, Abbie, Ronnie, Alex, Rileigh and Emaleigh Wilson; stepgrandson, David Skipper; four great-grandchildren, Matti, Luke, Levi, Lexxi; brother, Tracy Adkins and his wife, Jean, of Packs Branch; and sister, Barbara Loving and her husband, James, of Le Grand, Iowa.

Honoring her request, Lyda has been cremated. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour.
