Wilma Jean ‘Lilly’ Lowery

MOCKSVILLE, N.C. — Ms. Wilma Jean ”Lilly” Lowery, 56, of Mocksville, formerly of Princeton, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Ms. Lowery was born on December 31, 1956, in Spartanburg, S.C. to James Paul Harrison and Betty Lee Palmer Harrison.

Ms. Lowery was a 1973 graduate of Princeton High School in Princeton, and she was of the Baptist faith. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Everyone knew Wilma as an outgoing, free spirit who made friends easily and never met a stranger.

Preceding her in death are her parents, one brother, James Daniel Harrison and her great-grandmother, Isabel Farren Tracey.

Ms. Lowery is survived by her two daughters, Heather Lilly Sanders and Amanda Lilly Simmons, both of Farmington, NC; six grandchildren, Jonathon “Blake” Booie, Brandon Lee Booie, Taylar Marie Lilly-Johnson, Dylan Tate Sanders, Dustin Lee Simmons, and Jacob Gavin Lilly; two sisters, Brenda K. Hok (Rudy) of Milledgeville, GA and Barbara Ann Gray of Rocksprings, Wyoming; one brother, David Michael Harrison (Patricia) of Princeton, West Virginia and numerous other loving family members.

A memorial service was held 7 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Friends Baptist Church, 1840 Lewisville-Clemmons Rd., Clemmons, N.C., with Pastor Daron Osborne officiating. The family received friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made for the funeral expenses of Ms. Lowery to Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, c/o Wilma Jean Lowery, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

Ronald Wayne Morton

OAK HILL — Ronald Wayne Morton, 59, of Oak Hill, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born March 27, 1954, at Oak Hill, the son of the late Thurmond Harold Morton and Alberta Jean Allen Morton.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy and prior to his illness he was a coal miner for Terry Eagle Coal Company.

He is survived by daughters Donna Renee Lively and husband Leslie of Scarbro and Elissa Rose Morton-Riley of Columbus, Ohio; a good friend his former mother-in-law Barbara Maynus of Fayetteville; former wife and the mother of his children, Rena Beth Robinson and husband Gary of Scarbro; six siblings Alberta Ramsey and husband John of Akron, Ohio, Thurmond “Tink” Morton Jr. and wife Brenda of Lochgelly, Robert Morton and wife Sandy of Lochgelly, James Morton and wife Lori of Scarbro, Sharon Johnson and husband Edward of Oak Hill, and Daniel “Danny” Morton of Lochgelly; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

His remains rest at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel where the funeral will be held 3 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Justin Seay officiating and where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park with military rites.

Pallbearers will be Tim Johnson, Mark Dick, Mark Dick II, Michael Dick, Jeremy Morton, and Douglas Ramsey.

The family would like to thank everyone for their caregiving and help during Ronald’s illness.
