Wanda Ruth  Phillips Miller

Wanda Ruth Phillips Miller went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 15, 2010, after a sudden illness. Dying one day before her 90th birthday, Wanda was born on March 16, 1920, at Keyrock, the daughter of the late John and Martha Stewart Phillips. Wanda will be celebrating her birthday with her loved ones that preceded her in death.

Those that knew Wanda Miller would describe her as a meek, kind, sweet, loving person who could be strong and determined when she needed to be.  Her youngest son, affectionately nicknamed her the “Baby Bull” many years ago, because of her ability to deal with life’s tragedies and setbacks with strength. Her smile, gentle touch, and loving ways gave comfort to others that were dealing with personal difficulties.  Wanda took pride in her personal appearance and looked much younger than her age. She loved to cook, talk to her sisters on the phone, and take extremely good care of her loved ones. Her family and their well being, especially her grandchildren, was her life. Wanda gave unconditional love. Her daughter-in-law recently described her as, “the nearest thing to a saint on earth.” The world was a better place because of Wanda Miller. She will be remembered and loved in the hearts of her loved ones left behind. “Earth’s loss is heaven’s gain.”

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Cook and her former husband, Frank “Woody” Miller; a son, James A. “Jim” Cook; her six brothers, Alton, Leonard, Claude, Ralph, Seth and Jack, her four sisters, Neva Lafferty, Mae Thios, Carrie Pettry Napier and Jane Peters.

Those left to honor and cherish her life are a son, Frank Wood Miller Jr., and his wife Trima Chamberlain Miller; granddaughter, Tracy Beth Cook Baust and her husband Jeff, grandson, Jason Frank Miller; great grandchildren, Alex Brook Miller, and Payton Baust; two sisters, Bonnie Lamb and Betty McKinght Phillips; a large extended family also survives.
