 Kenneth Eugene ‘Gene’ Bragg

JUMPING BRANCH — Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Bragg, 45, of Ellison Ridge Road, Jumping Branch, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 15, 2013, at his home following a massive heart attack.

Born February 11, 1968, in Beckley, he was the son of Robert K. and Loretta (Sue) Arthur Bragg of Jumping Branch.

Gene was a 1986 Graduate of Hinton High School and a member of the Glade Creek Bible Baptist Church at Mt. View. He was employed by Cornerstone I.G.A. in Daniels and enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, watching old movies and spending time with family and friends. He was a wonderful son, brother and friend to all who knew him.

Preceding him in death include his grandparents, Cyrus and Ethel Bragg and Russell and Marie Arthur.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister, Sandra Farley and husband Harold of Coal City; one niece, Stacy Farley; one nephew, Robbie Farley both of Coal City; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. William “Bill” Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of the services. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Josephine Lee  Coleman

MOHAWK — Josephine Lee Coleman, of Mohawk, died June 15, 2013.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the Mohawk Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Casey, Rev. Hassell Rife, Rev. Ronnie Hurley and Rev. Sammy Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Family Cemetery, Isom Fork Road, Mohawk. Friends may gather with the family after 6 p.m. Monday, June 17, at the church.

Norma Jean Fuller

PETERSTOWN — Norma Jean Fuller, 79, of Country View Assisted Living, Peterstown, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013.

Rebecca Lynn Goff

Rebecca Lynn Goff, age 64, of Beaver, WV, previously of Mount Nebo in Nicholas County, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2013. Becky, as she was best known by her family and friends, died after a long illness at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Her faith and belief guided her for all of her adult life.

Becky was born in Richwood, WV, to Opal and WB “Bill” Goff, now deceased. She is survived by two sisters, Betty Ann Kelley and husband Herbert Kelly, Billie Boone and husband Dan Boone; and one brother, David Goff and wife Kay Goff. She had numerous nieces and nephews.

Becky graduated from Nicholas County High School and West Virginia University. She also completed a master’s degree at WVU. She was a guidance counselor at Nicholas County High School for over 30 years. She enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the hundreds of students she helped over those years.

As an alumna of West Virginia University, Becky seldom missed watching on television or in person a Mountaineer football or basketball game. Every residence she had was always adorned with Mountaineer memorabilia.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in the Walker Memorial Park at Summersville with Pastor Butch Collins officiating. In keeping with Becky’s wishes there will be no visitation. White Funeral Home at Summersville is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.

William ‘Billy’ Green

HILLTOP — William Dennis “Billy” Green, 52, of Hilltop, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013.

Shirley Ann Waldron Mackey

OAK HILL — Shirley Ann Waldron Mackey, age 84, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013.

Shirley was born June 30, 1928, at Minden, WV, she was the daughter of Jess E. and Ida Berry Waldron.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, John Thomas Mackey, Jr., and by a brother Alvin C. Waldron.

Shirley graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1947 and worked for many years at Oak Hill Theater. She was a homemaker and member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, Rebecca Bible Class, Altar Guild and 3 F’s Prayer Group. She also served on the Board of Directors of the CHHS/ OHHS Alumni Association, Senior Friends and Senior Circle.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, John “Pro” Mackey, her son, Joe Mackey of Myrtle Beach, SC., three sisters, Betty Clendenin of Oak Hill, Jean Bowling of Carolina Shores, NC, and Ramona Taylor of Nevada City, CA.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles D. Miller and Rev. Bill Slates officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, WV.

Friends may call at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church one hour prior to services on Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

Clarice Louise Sodder

FAYETTEVILLE — Clarice Louise Sodder, 80, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill.

Born on October 22, 1932, at Smithers, she was the daughter of the late Norman R. and Ethel S. Buckland.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sodder; brothers, Marshall Buckland and Clifford Buckland; sister, Ruby Ford; son, Joey Sodder, Jr.; grandson, Gary Wayne Gillespie, Jr.; and granddaughter, Angela Abbott.

She is survived by her children: George Sodder, Vicki Gillespie, and Sherry Thornburg; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Nellie, Donna, Lois, and Nora; brothers, Alfred, Jimmy, and Jeff; and a host of other family and friends.

In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
