Norma Hagamon Green

PINEVILLE — Norma Hagamon Green, 86, of Pineville, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Keith Reed officiating.

The family will receive family and friends in the chapel of Calfee Funeral Service one hour prior to the service.

Janice Irene Gunnoe

Janice Irene Gunnoe, age 100, of Bolt,  passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Jerry Cantley officiating and Rev. Dean Adams as a soloist. Friends may call two hours prior to the service, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

James Robert Hairston Sr.

James Robert Hairston Sr., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the age of 63. James was born and raised in Beckley, to the late Aaron Hairston Sr. and Lahoma Hairston.

James was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Fairmont State University. He accepted Christ in his life at a young age at Central Baptist Church under the Rev. Edward Abrams Jr. While serving the Lord at Central Baptist Church, he was a part of the Deacon Board, Senior Choir, and Men’s Chorus. He later continued his Christian service at Heart of God Ministries, where he was a deacon, member of the Men’s Chorus, Men of Valor Bible Class, and Nursing Home Ministries. He often used his gift of playing old hymns on the harmonica.

James was an employee of West Virginia Public Broadcasting (WSWP-TV) from 1989 until his journey home with the Lord. He had also been an assistant manager of Hecks’ Department Store from 1972 to 1988.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death a sister, Patsy Jenkins; brother, Rev. Aaron Hairston Jr.; niece, Taneisha Hairston and special great-grandson, Damon Harris III.

James leaves to cherish his memory his wife of almost 30 years, Gloria Hairston;  daughter, Kimberly Gilbert of Beckley; son, James Hairston Jr. of Huntington, W.Va.; granddaughters, Kendra, Kelsyia, and Kyla Gilbert, great-granddaughter, Jazline, all of Beckley; brothers, William (Wendy) Hairston of Carolina, W.Va. and Thomas Hairston of Beckley; sisters, Holtteen (Paul) Mitchell and Edith (Kenneth) Stewart, both of Beckley; uncle, Frank (Beulah) Lane of Columbus, Ohio; aunt, Marion Lane of Brooklyn, N.Y.; special God-daughter, Belinda Cox; special grandchildren, Damon Harris II  and Laila Cox; special friends, Deacon John (Ruth) Westbrook and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 So. Kanawha St., Beckley, with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Rosenbaum Family House, 1 Medical Center Dr. Morgantown, WV 26505.
