Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Plumley Burdette

FORT SPRING — Elizabeth “Betty” Plumley Burdette, 78, of Fort Spring, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 28, 2014, at noon at the Fort Spring Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Spring, with Preacher Eddie Harris and Evangelist Randy Stewart Burdette officiating. Burial will follow at the Fletcher Addition of the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson.

Friends may call Thursday, February 27, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Fort Spring Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Spring, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lewisburg Baptist Church Deaf Ministry, 246 Grand Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

Betty B. Caldwell

MULLENS — Betty Branham Caldwell, 79, of Mullens, died on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Born October 9, 1934 in Glade Springs, Va., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Blanche Elizabeth Mink Branham.

Betty was a retired accountant for Peabody Coal Company, a member of Beta Sigma Phi-Preceptor Kappa XI Omicron Sorority for over 50 years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Mullens Chapter No. 100 serving as Marshal, and was a member of the Mullens United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Caldwell; and a sister, Flossie “Cookie” Houck.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Keith Caldwell and his wife, Pam of Wheeling and Steven Caldwell and his wife, Sonya of Ashland, Ky.; one brother, Bill Branham and his wife, Linda of Mullens; four grandsons, Justin Caldwell and Sean Caldwell of Wheeling, Alex Caldwell and Zac Caldwell of Ashland, Ky.; a brother-in-law, Stuart W. “Tug” Houck and his wife, Cheryl of Princeton; two nephews, Todd Houck and his wife, Tracey of Mullens and their son, Mason and Scott Branham of Knoxville, Tenn. and his daughters, Madison and Maryn.

Services will be noon, Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Mullens United Methodist Church with Pastor Mickey Mitchell and Pastor Earl Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mullens United Methodist Church, 108 Guyandotte Avenue, Mullens, WV 25882.
