Edward Thomas

MONTGOMERY — Mr. Edward Thomas, 77, of Montgomery, died Monday, February 17, 2014.

Marvin Eugene ‘Tugene’ Thomas, II

WINCHESTER, VA. — Marvin Eugene Thomas II, affectionately known as “Tugene”, 51, Winchester, a native of Lillybrook, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. His death was sudden and unexpected.

Tugene was born on November 30, 1962, in Lillybrook, W.Va., the eldest son of Marvin Eugene Thomas Sr. and the late Margaret Ann Thomas Reynolds.

Tugene was athletic and popular throughout his school years. He graduated from Independence High School, Coal City, W.Va., in 1980 and attended Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va.  

He was employed with Kirby Company while in Ohio and remained an employee until his death. Anyone who knew him knew his passion for the company’s products. During his career he won numerous sales awards.

He is survived by his father, Marvin Eugene Thomas Sr. of Winchester; three brothers, Gordon Thomas of Charleston, W.Va., Jeffrey Thomas (Sheana) of Winchester, and Eric Thomas (Regina) of Beckley; two daughters, Déjà Thomas of Youngtown, Ohio and Téa Thomas of Lewisburg, W,Va.; a grandson, Albert Donald Byrd (mother Déjà ) and a great Uncle, a great Aunt, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the Cartwright Funeral Home in Winchester, Va. at 11 a.m.

Clara J. Tilley

PINEVILLE — Clara J. Tilley, 80, of Pineville, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 15, 2014, following a long illness.

Born July 31, 1933, in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Sherman Morgan and Cora Etta Hatfield Morgan.

Clara attended the Sweet Divine Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church, visiting family, baking and being with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. “Bill” Tilley, a son, Malcom David Tilley, two brothers, Sherman “Red” and Bilton Morgan, three sisters, Frances Yeager, Marie Hall and Edna Tolda

Survivors include her sons Tim Tilley and his wife, Melody of Bolt, Shawn Tilley and his wife, Kathy of Pineville; a  sister, Opal Hill of Elkton, Md.; five grandchildren, Chris, Adam, David, Courtney and Alyssa Tilley and one great-grandchild, Lakyn Tilley.

A celebration of Clara’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014, at the Sweet Divine Baptist Church with the Rev. David Cook and Rev. Donald “Doc” Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Privett Family Cemetery, Keyrock.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel.  

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Beverly Ann Wiley

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Beverly Ann Wiley, 63, of White Sulphur Springs, died early Thursday morning, February 13, 2014.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 21, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the St. James United Methodist Church on Church Street, with Rev. Greg Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.

Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs is serving the family.
