Sandra was born in Harrisonburg, Va., to Ray and Ann Wine on September 24, 1951.

She attended Harrisonburg High School, graduating in 1969. She went on to earn a degree in Speech and Language Pathology from East Tennessee State University. She worked for Harrisonburg City Schools at Keister Elementary and retired after 30 years of service. She was very proud to have been an educator in the public school system. After retirement she worked as a travel agent with Turner Travel.

She was involved in Bible studies, book clubs, and other groups where she could spend time with close friends she made over many years. Sandy enjoyed traveling all over the world with her husband Bill and spending time with her children and granddaughters. She encouraged and supported all of those around her with love and optimism in everything she did. Her spontaneous outlook on life was contagious.

Sandra is survived by her husband, William, of Harrisonburg; children: Paul and wife Laura of Harrisonburg and Carter and wife Sarah of Woodstock; parents Ray and Ann Wine of Bridgewater, brothers and sisters Kevin of Huntersville, NC, Kim of Winston-Salem, NC, and Michael of Richmond, Va.; granddaughters Brently and McKenna of Woodstock and Leonie of Harrisonburg; mother-in-law Marjorie Riner of Bridgewater; aunt and uncle Jay and Louise Harris of Louisville, Ky.; three nieces and three nephews.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the RMH Hahn Cancer Center and all of the doctors and nurses who provided such wonderful care. Sandy was so thankful for your excellent care and thoughtful support over the last year.

Memorial service will be held at Harrisonburg First Church of the Brethren on Saturday, February 15th, at 10 a.m. with Reverends Ron Wyrick and Beth Jarrett officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
