Frances Jean Taylor Dempsey
FAYETTEVILLE — Frances Jean Taylor Dempsey, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Plateau Medical Center.
Born on October 7, 1923, at Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late J. Alfred Sr. and Sabina Ellen Taylor.
Mrs. Dempsey was a member of Fayetteville Presbyterian Church since 1959, was a member of circle #2, the adult Sunday School Class, and a longtime Sunday School Treasurer. She was a retired clerk in the Auditor’s Office at the State Capitol, member of the Red Hat Society, member of the Genealogy Society of Fayette and Raleigh Counties and a member of the Fayette County Humane Society.
She was an amazing artist producing numerous beautiful paintings over the past 25 years. She composed poetry and delighted family and friends with poems she placed in cards or gifts. She also enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and accordion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Nelson Dempsey Sr.; son, Dallas Nelson Dempsey Jr.; brothers, J. Alfred Jr., Karl, Paul, Chilton, infant brother, Clark Lee; infant twin sisters; sisters, Della Bennett, Louise Thompson; and grandson, Stephen Myers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Linda Myers and her husband Rodney of Fayetteville; daughter-in-law, Carolynn Dempsey; granddaughter, Karen and her husband Mason Basham of Canvas, Angela Dempsey of Charleston, S.C., Alicia and her husband Chris Morabito of Daniels; great-grandchildren, Kristen Basham, Megan Krise, Blayne Dempsey, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
A special thank you to Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Scott Keffer, head nurse Denise Farris and other caregivers for their excellent care over the past five and a half years, Plateau Medical Center and especially to nurse Debbie Green for her care and compassion.
