Helen Ruth Parsons

SPRING LAKE, Mich. — Helen Ruth Parsons, age 70, passed away peacefully at her Spring Lake home on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, following a long illness.

She was born April 7, 1943, in Dover, Del., to Donald and Helen Louise (Waddel) DeShazo.

Helen was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in 1961.

Helen was an excellent cook, voracious reader, and enjoyed doing various needle crafts throughout her life. In her later years, she enjoyed making hand-stitched quilts for family and friends.

Helen is lovingly remembered by her son, Travis (Heidi) Parsons of Spring Lake; grandson, Tyler (Meg) Parsons of Edmond, Okla.; her sister, Sharon (Pat) Morrison of Manakin Sabot, Va.; and a network of close family and friends around the country.

Lillie Frances Skaggs

OAK HILL — Lillie Frances Skaggs, 80, of Oak Hill passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014.

Mrs. Skaggs was born December 5, 1933, in Charleston and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Odessa Skaggs Withrow. She was also preceded in death by a son Kyle E. Skaggs.

Mrs. Skaggs was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Sugar Creek and was a home maker.

Surviving are one son, David V. Skaggs of Dixie, and one sister, Annabelle Skaggs of Ansted.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 30, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ansted with Pastor Tim Skaggs and Pastor Buzzy Legg officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery at Sugar Creek.

Friends may call from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ansted.
