Alan Dirk Adams

Alan Dirk Adams, 55, of Beckley, passed away after a long illness on January 23, 2014.

Born November 8, 1958, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Harrison and Dorothy Adams.

Alan enjoyed spending time with his children and riding Harleys. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son Dillon Adams; daughter Jade Niday; Brothers Harrison Adams, Keith Adams, and Mark Adams; Grandchildren Tyler Niday, Alyssa Niday, and Ethan McAllister.

Alan worked at Industrial Steel in Fairmont, WV. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

Rev. Clarence R. Campbell

ACCOVILLE — Rev. Clarence R. Campbell, 88, of Accoville, caught his ride on the Glory Train on Friday, January 24, 2014, from his residence, after an extended illness.

He was born on July 19, 1925, at Earling, the son of the late Rev. Dave and Binner Hart Campbell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Rev. Campbell has been an ordained Freewill Baptist minister for over 50 years with the Guyan Valley Conference. During those years he pastored at the Landville Freewill Baptist Church and the Crown Freewill Baptist Church. His ministry touched many lives for the Lord through both his church ministry and his radio ministry on WBKW in Beckley and WVOW in Logan. He was a Navy veteran who served during WWII. Rev. Campbell was a coal miner who retired from Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara A. Jeffrey Campbell; eight children, Rev. David (Betty) Campbell, Rev. Dale (Kathryn) Campbell, Debbie (Clarence) Freeman, Robbie (Brenda) Campbell, Kathy (Dale) Morgan, Andrew Campbell, Kim (Scott) Glessner, and Mary (Jeff) Lester; one brother, Jessie (Jan) Campbell of Dearfield, IL; two sisters, Linda Burgess of Accoville and Audrey Depta of CO; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his two best friends, Ozie Burgess and Curtis Harper, along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends.

A celebration of Rev. Campbell’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the Landville Freewill Baptist Church at Landville with Rev. Joe Lane and Rev. James Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the church and one hour prior to services.

Pall bearers will be family and friends.

Donnie Gene Campbell

RONCEVERTE — Donnie Gene Campbell, 67, of Ronceverte, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, at his home in Ronceverte.

Born December 6, 946, at Ronceverte, he was a son of the late Detward and Christine Massie Campbell.

Donnie was a former member of the Ronceverte Fire Department and was a painter at The Greenbrier hotel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Detward “Junior” Campbell, David Campbell, and Charlie Campbell, and sisters, Anita Hodges and Alberta Mabe.

Survivors include his wife, Dreama S. Quick Campbell; daughter, Julie Dunbar and husband Christopher; granddaughter, Desirae Dunbar; “granddaughter” Kendra Weikle; sisters, Rita Campbell of Ronceverte, Velma Walton of Fairlea, Drema Mills (Johnny) of Ronceverte; a brother, Buford Campbell (Regina) of North Carolina; special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, at Ronceverte Baptist Church, with Pastor Andy Howdock and Pastor Buford Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Ronceverte.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte.

LOGAN — Annie L. Eddy, 85, of Logan, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.

Michelle Dawn Hall

GLEN JEAN — Michelle Dawn Hall, 39, of Glen Jean, formerly of Sterling, VA, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on January 22, 2014.

Michelle was born on June 26, 1974, to Patricia A. and Cecil R. Hall in Sterling, VA.

With the exception of five years in San Diego, Michelle spent her childhood in Sterling, VA. Her early years were devoted to gymnastics and her training included four years as a selected member of the San Diego State University’s Gymnastic Training Program for promising young juniors. Upon her return to Sterling, she competed with the Broad Run High School Gymnastic Team. After graduation in 1992, she went to work at Falcons Landing as a certified nursing assistant until the birth of her daughter in 2002.

Michelle moved to Glen Jean, WV, with her family in 2006 where she met and made many friends. Michelle was a member of the Sterling Park Baptist Church of Sterling, VA.

Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Claude and Vada Hall and William and Lorraine Pauley, as well as her uncles Barry and Roger Hall. She continued to mourn the loss of her best friend from high school, Trisha (Minor) McMananay, whose memory the years could never take away.

In addition to her parents, those left to hold her memory include her 11-year-old daughter, Hailee; brothers, Kenneth Hall and wife Cheryl of Richmond, VA, Tim Hall of Harpers Ferry, WV; uncles, Ron Pauley and wife Ann of Martinsburg, WV, and Randall Hall and wife Barbara of Fairdale, WV; aunt Cheryl Hall of Prosperity, WV; nieces, Danielle and Ciara Hall of Harpers Ferry, WV; nephews, Jason Hall of Winchester, VA, and Brandon McGhee of Martinsburg, WV; and her great-aunt and family Matriarch Ethel Midkiff of Reynoldsburg, OH.

The family requests no flowers. A private ceremony will be held at a later point in time.

Donnie Ray Kincaid

LANSING — Donnie Ray “Tiny” Kincaid, 66, of Lansing, WV, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, WV.

He was born December 23, 1947, a son of the late Emory Oatie Kincaid and Virginia May Sweet.

After retiring from the construction business in 2003, Tiny enjoyed spending time in the garage with his sons and watching the granddaughters play.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Dennis and Sally Webb.

Those left to cherish his memory include his best friend and loving wife of 23 years, Crystal Webb Kincaid. Together they raised four children, Virginia “Princey” of Oak Hill, Dennis “Dink” and wife, Jessica, of Lansing, WV, Sally “Sis” of Lansing and Jeff and his wife, Kim, of Beckley, WV. Tiny has five grandchildren he adored, Kami, Paige, Bryanna love their papaw dearly and Emily and Buddy that live in Florida. Tiny leaves behind many siblings, brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He will be sadly missed by many friends and a special friend who is like a son, Bill Atkinson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, January 28, 2014, at 2 o’clock in the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV, with clergy Charles Dickens and Leonard Sizemore and singer Brenda Sizemore. Interment is in Webb Family Cemetery Naoma, WV.

Visitation will begin at 12, two hours before the service at the funeral home.

 

Elizabeth Anne Mahoney Morgan Lee

OAK HILL — Elizabeth Anne Lee, 84, of Oak Hill, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014. She will always remain a beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, community volunteer and a great friend to all. A beautiful lady and the most humble person you could ever meet who loved everyone and gave graciously to all. Her favorite color was yellow; she loved flowers and hummingbirds and enjoyed to travel. She had so many precious friends, enjoyed people and had a love for music and dancing.

After graduating from Collins High School, she attended Ward-Belmont College and went on to graduate from West Virginia University. After receiving her teaching certificate, she was a K-8 teacher for many schools in the Fayette County area for over thirty years. Elizabeth was an active member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church including the Hylbert-Stickler Circle, Oak Hill Garden Club, Fayette Study Club and her favorite Tuesday Bridge Club.

She was the daughter of the late Mike and Sarah Mahoney and preceded in death by her brother James W. Mahoney and her late husband  Roy R. Lee, Jr.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons Michael Morgan and his sons Sean and John Matthew, John Morgan and his son John Girard and Jim and wife Isabel Morgan and children Justin and Julie Morgan, Stephanie Ann Morgan and fiancé Liam Lynch, Brandon Morgan, Rene and Jessica Roman, Ivan and Christina Padron, OJ and Tracy Herrera, Roy R. Lee III and wife Anna and their son Paul and Elizabeth Lee Paulick and daughters Carmen Lee and Amanda and husband Philbut Salas. She was also the proud great-grandmother to six great-grandsons of the extended family in Miami.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 15th, at 11 a.m. at the Oak Hill Baptist Church with a private burial to follow at a later date.

Robert Charles  Martin

MARIE — Robert Charles Martin, 72, of Marie died Friday, January 24, 2014, at Princeton Community Hospital following a long illness.

Born January 17, 1942, at Ballengee, he was the son of the late Robert F. and Genivee E. Biggs Martin.

Bob was a retired coal miner for Ranger Fuel Corporation at Bolt, West Virginia. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and enjoying farming and mechanic work.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Jan Boyd Martin, by an infant son, Robert Charles Martin, Jr., and also by a brother, Timothy Neal Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Rice Martin. Three sons, Douglas W. Martin and wife Laura of Beckley, Richard L. Martin of Huntington and Jack D. Martin and wife Vickie of Beckley. One daughter, Billie Mae Martin of Beckley. Two stepsons, Brian K. Smith and wife Janice of Myrtle Beach, SC, and James L. Smith and wife Shirley of St. Albans. Five brothers, Ronnie Martin and wife Zetta of Covington, VA, Jerry Martin and wife Brenda of Peytona, WV, Dewey Martin and wife Shelia of Bedford, VA, Randy Martin and wife Debbie of Ballengee and Phillip Martin and wife Shelia of Bragg. One sister, Sandra Toney and husband Mark of Bradley. Nineteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a special buddy, Logan Surratt, also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Rev. Linda Payton officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery at Marie. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Lora McClelland

CLIFFTOP — Lora McClelland, Clifftop, West Virginia, 91, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014, at the Fayette Nursing & Rehab Center, in Fayetteville, West Virginia, following a long illness. She was born on March 1, 1922, at Brooklyn, West Virginia.

Lora was a cook, seamstress, care provider and also worked at the Babcock State Park. She was also a member of the Clifftop Community Church.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service will be held at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel in Rainelle, West Virginia, on Monday, January 27, 2014, at 1 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, West Virginia.

The family would like to thank the staff of Fayette Nursing and Rehab Center for the care they showed in the time of need.

Cynthia McKnight

FAYETTEVILLE — Cynthia McKnight, 56, of Fayetteville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 24, 2014, at her home.

Born on June 28, 1957, at Charleston, WV, she was the daughter of Faye Marie Kincaid McKnight and the late Walter Norman McKnight.

She was a member of the Ansted Baptist Church and was the store manager for CJ Tobacco & Liquor on Harper Road in Beckley.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories include her mother, Faye McKnight of Fayetteville; son, Dustin McKnight and his fiancée Deborah Wills of Fayetteville; brothers, Mac McKnight of Fayetteville and Sheree of Radford, VA, Jeff McKnight and his wife Sherry of Fayetteville, Bill McKnight and his wife Pam of Fayetteville; sister, Beth Underwood and her companion Terry of Beaver; and many special nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

Patricia Sinecoff

Patricia Sinecoff, 54, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness.

Born February 3, 1959, at Mullens, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Ann Tilley Sinecoff and Tony D. Sinecoff.

Patricia was a lifetime member of the Ravencliff Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed singing, jigsaw puzzles, helping her mother write songs for the church, gospel music, reading her Bible and watching TV. She also loved being with her mother.

She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Tilley Sinecoff of Ravencliff; Her father, Tony D. Sinecoff of NC; 2 brothers, Randy Sinecoff of Kopperston and Roger Dale Stewart and his wife, Deborah, of Pineville; A sister, Brenda G. Cook and her husband, Paul, of Ravencliff.

A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Mike Dempsey officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service.

Burial will follow in the Tilley Family Cemetery, Twin Falls.

Brenda Kay Carroll Thompson, 58, of Sandlick, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014.

Joseph Oden Vallina Jr. ‘Joey’

OAK HILL — Joseph Oden Vallina, Jr. (Joey), 72, of Oak Hill, passed away at home on Saturday, January 25, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Vallina, and his son, Joseph O. Vallina, III.

Joey was born in Beard’s Fork, WV, the son of the late Joe Vallina and Mary Elizabeth Vallina (née Nutter). He served in the U.S. Air Force in Spain during the Cold War. Upon his return to WV, he received his B.S. degree from West Virginia Tech and began a 35-year career with the Mine Safety and Health Administration, in which he eventually served as the District 4 electrical supervisor for WV. After retiring from MSHA he served as an expert witness, again keeping miners safe. He was a lifelong Mason.

Half Scotch-Irish, half Spanish, Joey had no trouble making friends … and making them feel special. He loved to spend time on the Greenbrier River and visit his ancestral home in Spain and recently traveled with his son to visit family there.

He is survived and remembered fondly by his wife and son; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Vallina, of Silver Spring, MD; his sisters Bonnie Gillespie of St. Augustine, FL, and Tomasa Harriston of Charleston; and his grandchildren, Sylvia and Joseph David Vallina; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. A eulogy will be at 7 p.m.

Lewis Butler Whiting Jr.

Lewis Butler Whiting Jr., 73, passed away on January 8, 2014, at the WVU Medical Center in Morgantown, WV. He was born on August 3, 1940, in Baltimore, Md. Lewis married Janice Kay White Whiting in 1990 in Palm Beach, Fla. They were happily married for 23 years and resided in Okeechobee, Fla., and White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

Lewis grew up on Ellerslie Farm in Catonsville, Md. He attended McDonough Military Academy in Baltimore, Md., and Augusta Military Academy in Staunton, Va. After high school he attended Baltimore College in Baltimore, where he received a degree in X-Ray Technology and graduated Phi Theta Kappa and attended Palm Beach Community College in Palm Beach and graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy where he served as Class President.

Lewis’s career history and experiences included: Owner/operator of Whiting Cattle Co., Stewartstown, Pa.; cattle, hogs and agriculture; past president of Young Cattlemen’s Association, York County, Pa. Administrator, Dept. of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine for St. Joseph’s Hospital, Towson, Md. Manufacturer’s representative for GB Stump & Associates, Baltimore, Md. Owner/operator of LB Whiting, Inc. Contracting Service and Marine Salvage; Construction Administrator, VVKR Incorporated. Owner/operator of Palm Beach Charter “Stella Maris”; General Manager, Murrelle Marine, Lantana, Fla.; Captain, Marine Unit for City of Lantana, Fla., Police Dept.

His accreditations and accomplishments were many: NRA Certified Range Safety Officer, Firearms Instructor FDLE, FL Certified Law Enforcement Trainer, FL Teacher’s Certification, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, US Merchant Marine Master’s Certificate.

Lewis was a member of: NRA (Life), NRA Whittington Center (Life), NRA Whittington Center Founders Club, Gun Owners of America (Life), Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (Life), Safari Club International (Life), Greenbrier Sporting Club in WV (Resident), Indian Hammock Hunt & Riding Club in Okeechobee, FL (Resident), Quail Creek Plantation Sporting Clays & Hunting in FL, Baltimore Country Club in MD.

An avid outdoor enthusiast, Lewis enjoyed shotgun sports, rifle/pistol sports, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, hiking and traveling.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Lewis B. Whiting Sr. and Kathryn Ahern Ford Whiting, two brothers, George Armistead Whiting and David Ford Whiting, his sister, Suzanne Lewis Whiting Evans, and his dear aunt, Betty Washington Whiting.

He is survived by his adoring wife, Janice, of Okeechobee and White Sulphur Springs; son Key Lawrence Whiting of Maryland; son Lewis Butler Whiting III and wife, Martine, of Lexington, S.C.; stepdaughter Heather Roberts of Vero Beach, Fla.; stepson Thomas Roberts Jr. of Sanford, Fla.; and grandchildren, Madeline, Sean, Key, George (and their mother Courtnaye), Megan, Austin, Isaac, Isabella and Parker.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Lewis B.
