Eddie E. Adkins

HINTON — Eddie E. Adkins, 67, of Hinton, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Eddie Crews officiating. Burial will follow in the Esquire Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday.

OCEANA — High Blackburn, 91, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2014.

Joseph Aaron Kelly Sr.

ROCK LICK — Joseph Aaron Kelly Sr., 58, of Rock Lick, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.

Mr. Kelly was cremated. A memorial service was at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at the Rock Lick Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Brown officiating.

Robert Charles Martin

MARIE — Robert Charles Martin, 72, of Marie, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014.

Steven Morton

Steven Morton, 32, of Beckley, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014.

Born February 11, 1981, in Beckley, he was the son of the late William Keith Fortner, and Joyce Diane Brooks of Surveyor.

Steven loved being outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, ginsenging, and being around his five children.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his grandmother Geneva Mae Morton, and an infant child.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Mindy Morton; their five children Kalob, Miranda, Chelsea, Justin, and Ciara. His sister Chrystal Meador and fiancé Josh Richmond and their five children Alex, James, Summer, Courtney, and Lexie, his grandfather Ronald Morton, his stepsisters Jamie Brooks and Daphne Suddreth, and his stepfather James Brooks, his mother and father-in-law Larry and Marcella Daniel, his aunt April Morton, and several dearly loved family members.

Services celebrating the life of Steven will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at 3 p.m.  in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Hall officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest beside his grandmother in Grandview Cemetery, Grandview.

Friends may gather with the family from 2 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Charlotte Pouttu

Charlotte “Viv” Pouttu, age 81, of Beckley, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 22, 2014.

Born on November 18, 1932, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Frank Atkins and Mary Anna Lynn Atkins.

Mrs. Pouttu was a former dental assistant and had lived in Beckley all of her life.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Celene Lou Hajash and Mary Ann Bolton, by brothers, Kyle, Franklin and Marlin Atkins.

Surviving are her husband, Jacob Ed Pouttu; three stepchildren, and a sister Nancy Thompson of Beckley. Several nieces and nephews also survive, and a special friend Pat Crouch of Beckley.

Graveside rites and burial will be conducted at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens at Oak Hill, on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at 1 p.m.

There will be no visitation.

BRENTON — Imogene Short, 65, of Brenton, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014.

Zola Mae Robinson Toler

TAMCLIFF — Zola Mae Robinson Toler, 79, of Tamcliff, passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014.

Funeral service will be at noon Sunday, Jan. 26, at the River View Freewill Baptist Church, Slabtown near Tamcliff, with the Rev. Joey Massey and Pastor Baxter Toler officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories, Crouches Farm. Friends may gather with the family after 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the church.

OAK HILL — Howard Lee Warren, 88, of Oak Hill, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014.

May Marie Richmond Wood

MEADOW CREEK — May Marie Richmond Wood, 95, of Meadow Creek, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Main Street Care in Hinton following a short illness.

Born August 30, 1918, at Longbottom, Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Silas and Lottie Adkins.

Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and a member of Sandstone Baptist Church at Sandstone. She had lived all of her life in Summers and Raleigh Counties. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Webster Enfield Richmond, her second husband, Eugene Wood, and two sisters, Maycle Payne and Listine Harvey.

Survivors include seven sons, Hobert Richmond of Sandstone, John Richmond and wife Becky of Shady Spring, Jim Richmond of Ballard, Daniel Richmond and wife Tina of Hinton, William Richmond of Hinton, Jesse Richmond and wife Shelly of Hinton and Ray Richmond and wife Connie of Hinton; three daughters, Annie Richmond and companion Roy of Green Sulphur Springs, Kay Humphries and husband Marshall of Hilldale and Ethel Meadows and husband Ronald of Shady Spring; one brother, Rossy Adkins of Elkton, Md.; three sisters, Elva Boinozych of Elkton, Md., Lena Meadows of Shady Spring and Grace Meadows of Shady Spring; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, with Pastor Pete Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery at New River Falls in Raleigh County.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
