Ethel Brewer

Ethel Brewer, 87, of Crab Orchard, WV, passed away July 5, 2014, at Heartland of Beckley. Born March 25, 1927, in Clifftop, WV, she was the daughter of the late Porter and Nora Barnett.

Mrs. Brewer worked several years as a Nurse Aide at Pine Lodge and Heartland of Beckley. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her dog, Sparky.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Everette Brewer, son Randy Bowles, brothers, Fred Barnett, Ralph Barnett; and sisters Dorothy Doyle, Juanita Martin and Mae Critchley.

Those left to cherish her memory include son, Charlie Bowles, and daughter-in-law Gloria; daughter, Mary Lucille Garris and husband Raymond, sister, Ruth Martin, and brother, Buddy Barnette. She was also a caring “Mamaw” to her grandchildren, Johnny Garris, Melissa Cooper, Randall Bowles, Tammy Wyatt, Randy Bowles, Jeffrey Bowles and Brian Bowles; Twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2014, at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.

Anna Ruth Goodall Brown

BOZOO — Anna Ruth Goodall Brown, 89, of Bozoo, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital, Pearisburg, Va.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, with Pastor Terry Kornegay officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset View Cemetery, Bozoo. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of the service Tuesday, July 8.

The family suggests donations of sympathy be made to the Bozoo Christian Church, HC 81 Box 158, Peterstown, WV 24963.

Larry G. Brown

MULLENS — Larry George Brown, 66, of Mullens went to be with the Lord and his soul mate, Alice Rehm, on Friday, June 27, 2014, at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.

Born August 10, 1947, at Plattsburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Irvin and Norma (Favro) Brown.

Larry was a former construction worker — jack of all trades, was Roman Catholic by faith, he loved his dog, Bear, in his leisure he enjoyed fishing and Ginsenging, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his companion and soul mate, Alice Rehm; a sister, Diane Blanchard; and a brother, Gary Brown.

Loved by his children, Debbie O’Neal and her husband, Randy, of Mullens, Jimmy Rehm and his wife, Shelly, of Beckley, Laura Brown and her fiancé, Jorge Pedraza, Jr., of Florida, Larry Brown, Jr. ,and his girlfriend, Lisa Bazel, of New Jersey, and Leonard Brown of New Jersey; all his grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his special canine companion, Bear.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, Mullens, with Father Jack Reich officiating.

In keeping with Larry’s wishes his body has been cremated.

The family requests donations of sympathy be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
