Green Arbogast

DURBIN — Green Arbogast, 85, a resident of Durbin, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with the Rev. Donnie Curry and the Rev. David Rittenhouse officiating. Burial will be in Arbovale Cemetery Annex. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at the funeral home.

Lawrence Marvin ‘Larry’ Beverley Sr.

MOUNT HOPE — Lawrence Marvin “Larry” Beverley, Sr., 77, of Mount Hope, WV, died Wednesday evening, November 21, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV.

Born September 14, 1935, at Kilsyth, WV, he was the son of the late Marvin Hubert and Myrl Inez Turner Beverley.

He was a retired school bus driver from the Fayette County Board of Education after 34 years of service. He was also a retired Mount Hope businessman, being associated with father at Beverley and Beverley Grocery and owned Larry’s Bargain Box.

Larry was a faithful member of Mount Hope Christian Church. He was a former city councilman in Mount Hope and served for a short time on the Mount Hope Housing Authority. He was a member of the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees. At one time he served as Co-Chairman of the Boy Scouts in Mount Hope; was a former member and Vice President of the Mount Hope Lions Club; and a member of the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Beverley Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann “Pat” Haley Beverley; one son, Lawrence Marvin Beverley, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Patti Beverley Barton and her husband, Dan, of Fayetteville; one niece, Beverly Jean Smith Moye of Ona; one great-nephew, Hunter Shockey of Ona; a brother-in-law, Jack Smith of Hico; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Haley of Hinton.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2012, at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Minister Dennis Kinzer and Father Paul Yuenger officiating. Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope.

Pallbearers will be Ken Maynor, George Smith, Jr., Jim Helton, Page Humphrey, Jr., Thomas Brown and David Moye.

Dennis Wayne ‘DC’ Cella

Dennis Wayne “DC” Cella, 53, of Sophia passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012.

Born August 4, 1959, at Akron, Ohio, to the late Donald and Helen Franklin Cella.

“DC” loved watching NASCAR and FOOTBALL and loved animals. He was a graduate of Independence High School, and was of the Christian Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister that passed away at birth, Donna Marie Cella.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Kim Cella Davis and husband, K.C., of Winfield, WV; two grandchildren, Kaiden and Cruz Davis of Winfield, WV; two brothers, Donald Joe Cella and wife, Rene, of Sophia and Michael George Cella of Beckley; two aunts, Frances Harbert of Cross Lanes, WV, and Mary Lou Franklin Carr of Akron, OH; a niece, Wendy Atterson of Beckley; nephew, Gary Ray Cella of Sophia; caretaker and good friend, Steven Hull; and several cousins, extended family and a host of friends.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012, at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Sophia, with Rev. Kenny Lambert officiating. Following the services “DC” will be laid to rest at the McKinney Cemetery, Tams Mtn., WV. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.

Larry Leamon Cook Jr., 51, of Coal City, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012.

Services to celebrate the life of Larry will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel in Beckley with Pastor Rick Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park on Harper Road in Beckley. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Freda Marie Garten

MORGANTOWN — Freda Marie Garten,  91, of Morgantown, formerly of Alderson, WV, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Mapleshire Rehab. Center, Morgantown, WV.

She was born September 3, 1921, in Stimback, Fayette County, WV, the daughter of the late Harry M. “Hal” and Lizzie White Goodwin.

Freda was a correctional officer for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for Women, in Alderson, WV, where she retired after 16 years of service.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Elmer “Scootie” Garten, and her four siblings.

She is survived by her daughter Anita D. Garten of Morgantown, WV. Freda will be sadly missed by her daughter and her many nephews and nieces and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Clintonville, with her nephew Rev. Buck Goodwin officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.

Pauline H. Green

SHADY VALLEY, Tenn. — Pauline H. Green, 90, of Shady Valley, TN, formerly of Crab Orchard, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 21, 2012, following a long illness.

Born November 2, 1922, at Chilhowie, VA, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Bertha E. Wyatt Martin.

She was of the Baptist Faith, a seamstress and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. Pauline was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Preceding her in death include her husband, Earl E. Green, and one brother, Blaine Martin.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Kathie St. Clair of Beckley, Ann Jones and husband Michael of Beckley and Evelyn Bailey and husband Robert of Forest Hill; five grandchildren, Cheryl Lovejoy and husband Tim of Scott Depot, Darryl Kincaid and wife Mary of Williamstown, Roger Kincaid and wife Jamie of Charlotte, NC, Rachel Whiting and husband Jason of Piney View and Katie Cole and husband Stephen of Forest Hill; nine great-grandchildren and her special niece and caregiver, Linda Richardson and husband Ernie of Shady Valley, TN, also survive.

Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Darryl Kincaid officiating. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton from noon until 1 p.m. on Sunday. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Bailey, Jason Whiting, Stephen Cole, Michael Jones, Darryl and Roger Kincaid.

Donald Hagamon

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — Donald Edwin Hagamon, age 82, of Sevierville, formerly of Glen Fork, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 21, 2012, after suffering from several heart attacks. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. Mr. Hagamon served his country 4 years in the U.S. Navy. He worked 30 years with the Eastern Associated Coal Corp., 4 years with the Red Jacket Mining Co., and he drove a Pigeon Forge Trolley for 5 years. Mr. Hagamon loved horses and shared that passion with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was loved by all that knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 55 years, Judy Hagamon;

Daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Phillip Martin, Salina and Hoss Blankenship; son and daughter-in-law, John and Becky Hagamon;

Grandchildren: Farrah and Marc Doolittle, Brandon Bailey, Melanie and Thomas Cobb, Nicholas and Jessica Blankenship, Kala and Ricky Rayfield, J.D. Hagamon, and Briana Hagamon; six Great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Lee Greene; and brothers: Jim Hagamon, Darrell Hagamon, Robert Hagamon, Richard Hagamon.

Funeral services were on Friday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Sutton and Hoss Blankenship officiating. The family received friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

Committal services will be Sunday, Nov. 25th, at 2 p.m. in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Oak Hill Post 3110 will conduct military rites.

Ryta Cleustene Belcher Nutter

RAINELLE — Ryta Cleustene Belcher Nutter, 87, of Lilly Park, Rainelle, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea, following a long illness.

Born May 12, 1925, in Roane County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence “Dick” Cluster and Bessie King Belcher.

Ryta was a homemaker, wife and mother. She was known in a variety of work places: secretary of Service and Parts, Inc., manager of Dollar General, head cook and dietitian at Greenbrier West High School, clerk at Foodland and concessionaire at the Sunset Drive-In.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her 3 sisters Eufa Whitten, Vera Dillon and Nada Belcher.

Survivors include her son Kevin Nutter of Rainelle; her daughter April Curtin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and 3 grandchildren Todd Curtin, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Brent Curtin of Indiana and Darragh Curtin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, November 25, at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bennie Kenney officiating. Entombment will be in the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum at Clintonville.

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruby Viola Vandall

Ruby Viola Vandall, 84, of Meade, passed away peacefully at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.

Born October 28, 1928, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Ethel Martin Mason.

Ms. Vandall was a homemaker and her greatest joy was the Lord and her family.

She was married to her loving husband, Raymond Stanford Vandall, on August 30, 1944. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Vandall, daughter, Brenda Sams, granddaughters, Kristina Sams, Vanessa Ferguson and Crystal Hedrick, great-grandsons, Jerry Ferguson, Jr., Dakota Vandall and Alex and Brandon Gill; and brother, Vernon Mason and his wife Helen.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Carolyn Vandall of Meade, WV, Vivian England and husband Bob of Indiana, Sharon Ferguson of Josephine, WV, Charlotte Wallace and husband Charles of Josephine, WV, Judy Britt of Indiana, Kathy Trail of Beckley, Ricky Vandall and wife Sherry of Hinton, Raymond (Randy) Vandall, Jr., and wife Margaret of Shady Spring, Don Vandall of Meade, WV, and Dean Vandall of Meade, WV. Sisters, Christine and Leatha. Son-in-law, David Sams of Indiana. Twenty-four grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bowers Hospice House and all of her caregivers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Bob England officiating. Burial will follow in the Elton Community Cemetery at Elton, WV. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
