Billy Wayne Beasley

Billy Wayne Beasley, 73, of Beckley, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 12, 2010.

Born July 27, 1937, at Oswald, WV, he was a son of the late Edward Beasley and the late Bessie Marie Holt Beasley.

Bill loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was a coal miner, last working for New River Coal Company’s Siltix Mine in Mt. Hope; he was a member of the UMWA.

He was a devoted husband, wonderful father and grandfather as well as a great provider for his family and a true friend to many.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Billy Wayne Beasley, Jr.; grandson, Billy Wayne Beasley, III; one sister and two brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sharon Keeney Beasley; daughter, Sherry Lynn Frank and husband, Joseph, of Powellton, WV; five grandchildren, Kelsey Miranda Frank of Powellton, WV, Kayla Anderson of NM, Sara Lynn and Krista Beasley of NV.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.

Services were conducted on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, by Pastor Michael Kessinger. In keeping with Bill’s wishes the services were private. He was entombed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

PAX — Marie E Humphrey Billups, 95, of Pax, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.

Marnitta ‘Marty’ Marie Blankenship

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — Marnitta “Marty” Marie Blankenship, age 49, of 330 Lindsey St., Reidsville, NC, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010, at her home, after a brief illness. She was born October 6, 1961, in Wyoming County, WV, to George Alfred Pennington and Janice Marie Tyree Pennington of Glen Rogers, WV. Mrs. Blankenship worked in the family business.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Willie Pennington; paternal grandmother, Lissie Pennington; maternal grandparents, Cleet and Edith Tyree; two uncles, Ronald Tyree and Jack Tyree; father-in-law, Dennis Ray Blankenship; brother-in-law, Donald Eugene Blankenship; and a niece, Tabitha Roberts.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband Billy Ray Blankenship formerly of New Richmond, WV; one son, Grayson Morgan Blankenship of the home; two daughters, Halley Celeste Foye and husband Michael of Greensboro, NC, Alley Denny Blankenship of the home; two grandchildren, Jackson Foye and CeCe Foye of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Michael Pennington of Mt. Airy, NC; one sister, Juanita Tilley and husband Mike of Glen Rogers, WV; seven nephews, Tyler Pennington, Austin Pennington, Evan Pennington and Andrew Duke Pennington all of Mt. Airy, NC, Michael Tilley and wife Brittany of Raven Cliff, WV, Scott Tilley and wife-to-be Nikki of Glen Rogers, WV, Trey Roberts of NC; four nieces, Maddie Pennington of Mt. Airy, NC, and Ashley Tilley of Glen Rogers, WV, Hope Pearson and husband Garry of NC, Morgan Roberts of NC and Oxford, England; grandniece, Emily Tilley of Glen Rogers, WV; mother-in-law, Kate Blankenship Roberts and husband Herman of NC; brothers-in-law, Timmy Blankenship, Jeffery Blankenship and wife Caprice, Herman Roberts, Jr., and wife Paula, Jeff Roberts and wife Rachelle all of NC.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010, at Glen Rogers Community Church. Rev. Larry England and her husband Billy Blankenship will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bowers Family Cemetery in Twin Falls State Park. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Glen Rogers Community Church.
