Donald Ray Fletcher

On Tuesday, August 7th, 2012, our most cherished, Donald Ray Fletcher, formerly of Bolt, passed away at his home in Knoxville, Md., following a battle with cancer since last November. He was 73 years of age.

Affectionately known as “Don” all his life, Donald was born on Nov. 28th, 1938, at Bolt. The youngest of four children, his parents were the late Ira and Dorothy Sesler Fletcher.

Donald spent his childhood at Bolt. A graduate of Glen Rogers High School, he served in the US Army. A resident of Knoxville the past 11 years he has been a resident of state of Maryland the past 40 years. Like many West Virginians, Donald had to leave the state to seek employment. When he was discharged from service he headed to the Washington, DC area. Ironically he would meet the love of his life, Wiledene Cozort, a native of Glen Rogers. Donald and Wiledene were married on Nov. 23, 1962. They have shared many good years together.

To their union was born one child, David. David is married to Jennifer and they blessed Donald and Wiledene with six grandchildren. Donald was the doting “ Pop Pop” to Kelly, Becky, Joshua, Leah, Jacob and Chase. He was the proud great grandfather of Phillip. Donald is the fond brother of Harry Fletcher and his wife, Claudette, Lois Fox and her husband, Bud and Mary Bratton. There are several nieces and nephews. Donald’s family will forever cherish his memory.

Committal services will be Saturday, August 11th at 2 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. The Rev. Paul Zutaut will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary. Those wishing to attend the committal services are asked to meet at the mortuary by 1:30 p.m.
