Dewey A. Hooper

Dewey A. Hooper, age 73 of Shady Spring, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at his home.

Born on March 20, 1940, at Barn, W.Va., he was the son of the late  Crawford Hooper and Dorothy Ayers Hooper.

Mr. Hooper was a retired coal miner, and a member of the UMWA. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran .

Mr. Hooper was preceded in death by three brothers, Jackie, Forest Gene, and Larry Dean Hooper and by a sister, Pamela Dawn Hooper.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years,  Ethel Ayers Hooper; five children, Dewey Hooper Jr. and his wife Sherry of Shady Spring, Theressa Lee Hooper of Shady Spring, Patricia Hunter and her husband Michael of South Boston, Va.,  Larry Dean Hooper of Virginia, and Johnny Hooper of Shady Spring; a sister, Brenda Kelly of Alexandria, Virginia, 11 grandchildren, and seven  great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at 1 p.m.  with Pastor Lowell Black officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will grandsons and nephews.

Carl Hopkins Jr.  Garrick Hopkins Sr.

OAK HILL — Mr. Carl Hopkins Jr., 61, of Oak Hill, and Mr. Garrick Hopkins Sr., 60, of Milton, died Saturday, January 25, 2014.

Joint funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at Spirit & Truth Ministries, 100 Main St., Oak Hill. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church.
