Donna L. Asbury

Donna L. Asbury, 54, of Lester passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.

Castella Mae Blosser Baker

OTSEGO — Castella Mae Blosser Baker, 79, of Otsego, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.

Arrangements are pending completion at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, 1901 S. Kanawha St., Beckley.



Arthur Lee Combs

Arthur Lee Combs, 79, passed away January 14, 2014, in Corbin, KY. He was born May 28, 1934, in Beury Mountain, WV, to Thomas W. and Dorothy E. Smith Combs.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother Thomas A. Combs.

Arthur graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 1953. He played football and ran track for the Mustangs. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Sr. Master Sgt. in 1973 with 20 years of service having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a retired electrician for CSX Railroad in Corbin, KY. His retirement passion was playing golf.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Louise Combs of Corbin, KY; sons, Matthew Combs and his wife Victoria of Corbin, KY, Steven Combs of Corbin, KY, and Scott Combs of Corbin, KY; daughter, Denise Combs of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Savannah Combs of Corbin, KY; grandsons, John Combs of Denver, CO, Paul Combs of Denver, CO; brothers, A. Russell Combs and wife Francine of Oak Hill, WV; Fredrick N. Combs and wife Lisa of Bluffton, SC; sisters, Mary K. Kincaid of Red Star, WV, Elizabeth J. Vance and husband Archie of Fayetteville, WV.

Service were held Saturday, January 18, 2014, at High Lawn Funeral Chapel, Oak Hill, with Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Burial followed in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.



William McKinley Evans

SINKING CREEK — William McKinley Evans, 97, of Sinking Creek passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

PINEVILLE — Jerry Lee Hedrick, 78, of Pineville passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Calfee Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Calfee Funeral and Cremation Service of Pineville is serving the Hedrick family.



Sandi Holt

Sandi Holt, 61, of Sophia passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.

Gerald W. Ingram

LEWISBURG — Gerald W. Ingram, 86, of Lewisburg died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Greenbrier Baptist Church in Ronceverte. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church.



Roger L. Mullins

BALLENGEE — Mr. Roger L. Mullins, 66, of Ballengee, formerly of Union, passed away Jan. 16, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home in Union. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery in Union, with Masonic graveside rites.

Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home in Union is in charge of arrangements.



Billie Sheffie Parks

Billie Sheffie Parks, 86, of Cool Ridge, left this world on January 16, 2014, at 7:13 p.m.

Born September 5, 1927, in Hiawatha, WV, he was the son of the late Lonnie and Ester Parks.

Billie enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and going to the beach.

Other than his parents, he has gone to meet his loving wife of 58 years; an infant son, Billie Jr., in 1948; son, Gary, on February 9, 1999, and son, David, on May 20, 2013.

Those left here to remember him are Sherry and husband Charlie of Seaford, DE, Diane and husband John of Midway, WV, Lonnie and wife Candi of Rock Falls, IL, Mike of Coal City, WV, and Tom of Daniels, WV; also left behind are 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Billie served in the Army and spent time in Germany and France doing cleanup after World War II.

He was a coal miner for 20 years and a minister of several churches through the years.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Rev. Phillip Farrington officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Pallbearers will be John Starling, Jim Farrington, Larry Green, Roy Meadows, Donnie Fink and Rev. James Cox.

Friends may gather with the family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vernon Wetzel Tipton

OAK HILL — Vernon Wetzel Tipton, 67, of Oak Hill, died Friday, January 17, 2014, at Plateau Medical Center following a short illness.

Born August 9, 1946, at Minden, WV, he was the son of the late Ernest and Margaret Robinson Cox Tipton.

He was a retired coal miner and heavy equipment operator at Kingston Mines. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include his companion, Sharon Arrington; five daughters Theresa Buck and husband William of Oak Hill, Jeanie Marie O’Keese of Ohio, Charlotte Jones and husband John of Fayetteville, Sherry Everett and husband Steve of Oak Hill, Rachel Henderson and husband Larry of Rush, Kentucky; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.; one brother Rennie Tipton; two sisters, Cheryl Pittman and Patricia Mooney, all of Oak Hill.

Funeral services will be on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with Rev. Larry Humphrey officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Monday, January 20, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tyree Funeral Home for funeral expenses of Mr. Tipton.
