Marian E. Nolley

Marian Elizabeth Nolley, passed away at the age of 76 at the Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.

She will be remembered by all who knew her, of her giving and caring for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Frances Nolley.

Marian is survived by five siblings; Mary Frances Taylor, George Nolley, Robert Nolley (Sandi), John Nolley (Sandy), and Martha Taylor (E.C.). She is also survived by nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Marian was a graduate of Mullens High School and Concord College. She spent her career in teaching, retiring from the Wyoming County Schools. Following 6 1/2 years of care giving for her mother, Marian returned to her love of teaching at Son Light Christian Academy.

Her love of young people led her into service as a Girl Scout Leader and Rainbow Chapter of the Eastern Star. Marian worked with the youth of the Mullens United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Directors of the Mullens United Methodist Church Day Care Center.

Marian contributed to the community of Mullens, serving on the Library Board, working with RAIL, was an active member of the Mullens Area Chamber of Commerce, and Wyoming County Council of the Arts. She was honored in 1981 as the Mullens Outstanding Citizen of the Year.

Marian was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She possessed a voracious reading appetite and loved crafts which filled her spare time. She was devoted to her family, helping all family members and will be sadly missed by all.

A celebration of Marian’s life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the Friendship Hall of the Mullens United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Bowers Hospice House, Mullens United Methodist Church, or the Mullens Area Public Library.
