Monroe ‘Fred’ Hall
Monroe “Fred” Anderson Hall, 88, of Glen Rogers, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 at his residence following a short illness.
Born June 28, 1925 at Lick Fork in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Elmer and Jetta Mae (Williams) Hall.
Fred was a former coal miner, was a former Steel Mill employee in Delaware, a member of the Pinegrove Missionary Baptist Church, a Veteran of the US Air Force having served during World War II, and in his leisure he enjoyed playing music. He played numerous musical instruments and especially enjoyed playing the mandolin and electric guitar.
Fred was the last survivor of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by five brothers, Willard, Paul, Orie, Teddy and Donald; and three sisters, Lethie, Tina Mae and Betty.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joyce Kay (Stewart) Hall; a son, Willard “Freddie” Hall and his wife, Michelle of Corinne; two grandchildren, Brooke Makenzie Hall and Seth Andrew Hall; two step-children, Terry Arnold Marcum of Ravencliff and Tonya Lester of Australia; his ex-wife, Mary Kay Hall of Pierpoint; four nieces, Carolyn Miller, Linda Hodges, Sheila Yenshaw and Valdena; two nephews, Roy Hall of Delaware and Billy Hall of Texas; and a best friend, Shirley Cozart of McGraws.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Pinegrove Missionary Baptist Church, Ravencliff with Dewayne Hurd officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery.
