MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Christine Gentry, age 85, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away July 2nd, 2013, peacefully.
Born in Smoot, WV, on July 26, 1927, Christine is preceded in death by her husband, Linnell Gentry, who passed away in 2000.
Survived by her children: son, Mike Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter, Sally Gentry-Hill (Jack Hill) of Nashville, TN; grandson, Brad Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN, and great-grandson, Tallon Gentry of Smithville, TN. She is also survived by her sister, Billie Ann Sanford of Rainelle, WV.
She was the daughter of the late William Bryan “W. B.” and Fannie Anderson. Christine is an alumna of West Virginia Wesleyan College class of 1949. She started her career as a home economics teacher in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, and taught at the Crichton and Lewisburg schools. She became a homemaker in 1952 to start her family. Christine was a volunteer for Middle TN Medical Center for over 30 years in the admitting department.
Christine was a member of First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, TN, since 1966.
Her family gives a heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Adams Place assisting living, rehab and long-term care unit for their care, compassion and love. The family sends a special thanks to her caregiver, Jane Lowe, who has helped and been with her since 2010.
Christine loved gardening, sewing and watching her roses bloom annually. She was a loving lady and would rather give than receive. Christine will be missed by everyone who knew her well.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with Pastors Thad Austin and Ann Benson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends of the family will serve as Pallbearers.
