Carol ‘Susie’ Thompson
On Saturday, August 10th, 2013, one of God’s special angels, Carol “Susie” Thompson, passed away at the Raleigh General Hospital.
Carol Sue was the second of five children. “Susie,” as she was affectionately known all her life, was born on Nov. 10th, 1943, in Beckley. She was the precious daughter of the late Roy Curtis and Dorothy Mae Smith Thompson Sr.
Susie was one of God’s special children. She has graced this world and the lives of her parents, brother and sisters for 69 years. Her presence has made their lives all the better. As her brother, R.C., stated, “Susie was our ‘Angel Unaware.’”
Susie loved to attend the Memorial Baptist Church when she was able. As she often stated in her own words, “Jesus is God’s Son.” What a sweet spirit our Susie was on this earth. Her mission of love and understanding is now completed.
Left to cherish her memory are her surviving brother and sisters, R.C. Thompson and his wife, Gloria, of Bryant, AK, Mary Lue Dove and her husband, Landy, of Apache Junction, AZ, Dixie Thompson of Beckley, and Delma Lora and her husband, Art, of Salem, OH. Susie was blessed with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins, who never failed to ask, “And how is Susie?”
On Wednesday, August 14th, at 11 a.m. we will honor the life of this special child of God with a “Service of Remembrance” at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Paul Zutaut will be officiating. Susie will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity beside her parents.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are Curt Richards and Don Farley.
Condolences may be sent to the family’s guestbook at www.meltonmortuary.com.
Arrangements by Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center, Beckley.
