Essie Marie Farmer

Essie Marie Farmer, 85, of Midway, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 3rd, 2013.

Born on January 18th, 1928, in Cool Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Erastus Greenlee Phillips.

Marie enjoyed reading her bible and crocheting; she was a member of the Midway Chapel.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edward Farmer; grandparents and four siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Evelyn Prince of Smithers; best friend, Ruth Nicholes of Soak Creek; three children, Clarence Winton Farmer of Sophia, Edward Lee Farmer and Phyllis Ann Shrewsbury of Mercer County; eight grandchildren, Sandra Farmer, Rodney Farmer, Donna Farmer, Roger Wilson Smith Jr., Larry Ray Smith, Rhonda Duncan, Nashalla Farmer and Fallon Farmer; also a host of great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Williams Blue Ridge Funeral Home Sophia. Friends may gather with the family from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Phillips Family Cemetery in Cool Ridge.

Mary Eloise Kennedy Ryals Running Foxe

COOS BAY, Oreg. — Mary Eloise Kennedy Ryals Running Foxe, formerly of Beckley, passed away Jan. 5, 2013, in Creswell, Oreg.

She was born April 29, 1930, at Holly, W.Va., to the late William and Goldie McBride Kennedy.

Mary grew up in Beckley and enjoyed spending time with her large family. She moved to Elyria in 1953, was a long time Elyria resident and worked at Rigbee’s Toy Store for many years. After moving from Elyria, she lived in Beckley, W.Va. and most recently in Coos Bay, Oreg.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerry Running Foxe; a daughter, Sherry Leigh Ryals; sisters, Vena Kennedy Hopkins (William), Margaret Kennedy Amick (Otis), Ethel Kennedy Nichols (Carl), Frieda Kennedy Clere (Clayton), Helen Kennedy Meadows (Perry), Reecca Kennedy Manning (Okey); brothers, Wiliam Kennedy (Marire), George Kennedy (Irene), Kendall Kennedy.

Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Ryals Ginter of Grafton, Ohio and son-in-law, Fred Ginter, of Grafton, Ohio; grandson, Jason Ginter of San Diego, Calif.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ginter of Chicago, Ill; brother, David Kennedy of Beckley, and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites were held at Ocean View Crematory in Coos Bay, Oreg. A memorial service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, along with burial to follow.

 Sue Francisco, age 79, of Blue Jay, passed away at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.  

Arrangements are pending completion at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, 1901 S. Kanawha St., Beckley.
