Eleanor Puckett

OCEANA — Eleanor Puckett, 76, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Raleigh General Hospital.

Born July 23, 1936, in Shirley, WV, she was the daughter of the late John and Melvina Underwood Stewart.

Eleanor attended Oceana High School and was a 1954 graduate of Pineville High School. She was an avid computer buff and enjoyed chatting with her many online friends. She was a member of Delilah Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, and two daughters, Barbara Puckett and Kathy Jo Puckett.

Those left to cherish her memory are two children, Janet Kinser of Oceana and Christopher Puckett and his wife, Lanell, of Princeton; siblings, Jim Pettit and wife, Leona, of Paden City, WV, Joan Sluss of Ft. Ashby, WV, and Sue Lusk and husband, John, of Keyser, WV; four sisters-in-law, Verlie Puckett, Joan Lawson, Mary Lou Lusk, and Anita Toler; four grandchildren, Allison Kinser, Adam Kinser, Tristan Puckett, and Nathan Puckett; a host of nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Evans Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David White officiating. Entombment will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, January 28, at the funeral home.

Jake Laret ‘Bub’ Ramsey

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Jake Laret “Bub” Ramsey, formerly of Edmond, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, in Sacramento, Calif.

He was born in Edmond, on Feb. 15, 1939.

Mr. Ramsey was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force; Jake was a Firefighter Equipment Operator for the Sacramento City Fire Department from 1962 to 1993. Bub enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family.

Preceded in death by his parents Jake and Mabel Ramsey and son-in-law Art Carrillo.

Survivors include his first wife Mary Ramsey; children Cheryl Carrillo and Shelly Allport (Mike). Grandchildren, Mary Lego, Noah Allport, Gabriel Carrillo and Maria-Isabel Carrillo. Siblings, Laurie Johnson (Dave), Jim Ramsey, CD Ramsey (Amy) and Joe Ramsey (JoAnne), and special friend Melissa Schuler. Bub will be missed by many loving friends and family.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Ave., Sacramento, CA 95815.
